Nieuwe Stempels -New Stamps

Mijn inspiratie is op visite bij haar familie, denk ik. Ze is in elk geval niet hier! Maar met een paar nieuwe Hero Arts stempels kan ik haar wel overhalen weer thuis te komen!
My muze is visiting some relatives, I think. At least she's not here! But with the some new Hero Arts stamps I can persuade her to come back to me!

Met de Fleurettes van Hero Arts. Ingekleurd met een water penceel en distress inkt worn lipstick en een heel klein beetje flink verdunde barndoor red.

De prachtige Newspaper Tulips stempel. Ingekleurd met copic markers R35 en G07. Dat zijn dan ook de enige twee copics die ik heb. Maar daar komt binnenkort verandering in. Christa en ik hebben onszelf getrakteerd op de nieuwe distress markers! Christa heeft namelijk een mooie aanbieding gevonden. Alle 37 distress markers in de voorverkoop voor 85 euro. Een hoop geld maar dat is het wel waard!

The gorgeous Newspaper Tulips stamp. Colored with copic markers R35 and G07. Those are the only two markers I have. But that's going to change soon! Christa and I treated ourselves to the new distress markers! Christa found a nice presale offer: all distress markers for 85 euro. A lot of money but it's worth it!

Schaatskoorts - Skate fever

De schaatskoorts heeft toegeslagen in Nederland en het lijkt wel een epidemie! Iedereen die een beetje van schaatsen houdt is nu buiten en geniet van prachtig natuurijs.
Ook de scholen zijn niet immuun. Gisteren zijn de school races gehouden en per klas mochten er twee kinderen door naar de gemeente races die vanmiddag worden verreden.
Skating fever has taken over in Holland. Everyone who can skate is skating and enjoying the ice.
Even the schools are participating and they have held their individual races yesterday. The two fastest kids from every group will race today against other school winners.

Ook mijn jongste dochter Elske heeft het schaatsvirus te pakken. En wat denk je? Ook op haar kunstschaatsen wist de race in groep 7 te winnen! Samen met een vriendinnetje Emma mag ze vanmiddag haar school verdedigen! Dat wordt aanmoedigen!
My youngest daughter Elske has been infected too. she won yesterday and today she will defend the honor of her school together with her friend Emma. Off course I will be there to encourage her!

Ze was zo opgewonden gisteravond dat ze er bijna niet van kon slapen. Ik ben benieuwd hoe het haar zal vergaan vandaag! Vingers gekruist voor een goede race vandaag!
She was almost too excited to sleep yesterday. Today I'm beginning to get caught up in the excitement! Let's all keep our fingers crossed for a good race!

Valentijn - Valentine

In Nederland doen we niet zo erg aan Valentijn. Het wordt ons een beetje aangepraat door de commercie. Ik heb geen speciale dag nodig voor de liefde! Ik vertel mijn man en kinderen elke dag dat ik van ze hou!
Vanavond was Christa hier en we waren een beetje melig. Dus toen de chocolade op tafel kwam kreeg ik ineens dit idee. De kersjes zijn net muzieknootjes!

We don't celebrate Valentine so much here in Holland. Altough the stores sell loads of Valentine products. I don't need a special day for love. I tell my DH and children every day I love them!
Tonight Christa was here and we were a bit gigglish (is THAT a word??!!) So after the chocolate made it's appearance on the crafting table, I got this idea for a Valentine card. The cherries look just like music notes!

Ik heb een klein gedeelte van de kersen stempel van de Engraved Fruits set van Hero Arts gemaskerd met een plakbandje en daarna pas beïnkt. Maskertje eraf en stempelen maar. Het kostte wat moeite maar na drie pogingen kreeg ik dit resultaat. Muziek lijnen erin getekend en wat extra muzikale notaties. Met de witte gelpen wat highlights op de kersjes getekend en een beetje stickles X-mas red aangebracht..

I masked part of the cherries-stamp from the set Engraved Fruits from Hero Arts to stamp only one of the cherries. It took a bit of practice but after three tries I got this result. I drew the lines and added some musical extra's. I added some highlights to the cherries with the white gelpen and a little bit of stickles X-mas red.

CAS homework day 7

Dag 7 ging over een witte kaart. Ik gebruik meestal een witte kaart omdat wit voor mij het ultieme "clean" is maar een heleboel andere kaartenmaaksters gebruiken vaak een gekleurde kaart als basis. Voor dag 7 heb ik dus nog even gespeeld met de "foute kaart" van dag 2. En deze keer is het wel gelukt!

Day 7 was all about plain white cards. I mostly use plain white cards because white is for me the ultimate "clean". But a lot of other artists often use a colored card as base. So I took a plain white card and played with the technique from the "failed card" on day 2. This time I succeeded!

Perfecte embossing, mooie kleuren op de bloem links. Deze keer zijn de kleurverschillen wel acceptabel omdat ik een aquarel techniek heb gebruikt. En een lichte afdruk van de tekst met distress inkt dusty concord. De bloem is de Ruffled Flower van Hero Arts

Perfect embossing, nice colors on the flower left. This time the white and dark spots are acceptable because I used an aquarel technique. And a light sentiment stamp in a matching color distress ink dusty concord. The stamp is the Ruffled Flower from Hero Arts.

I werd geïnspireerd door Play Date Cafe uitdaging PDCC114. Ik zag gelijk een CAS kaart in de chocolaatjes op het witte bord! Helaas is de uitdaging al gesloten dus ik kon niet meer meedoen. Volgende week dan maar weer!

I was inspired by the Play Date Cafe challenge PDCC114. The little chocolates inspired me! The letters form the word "gefeliciteerd" which means congratulations in Dutch. Unfortunately the challenge closed on Tuesday. I could not enter anymore! Oh well, better luck next week!

Minimal embellishments

Ik was tussen mijn stempels op zoek naar heel iets anders toen ik deze tegenkwam. Mijn jongste dochter heeft deze set ooit eens uitgezocht. Ik heb geen idee meer van welke designer of fabriek deze stempels zijn!

I was looking though my stamp stash when I found this lovely one. It's from a set my youngest daughter once chose. I have no idea who the designer is or the company!

Maar het hertje gaf me een idee voor een CAS kaart. Simpel en toch leuk. Waarom? Er zijn drie elementen die met elkaar verbonden zijn. Het groene gras, de groene tag. De tekst die met het hertje te maken heeft. En het hertje die in het gras staat. Even twee afgeronde hoekjes om de visuele lijn (van linksboven naar rechtsonder) te nebadrukken. Ik zou nog een heel klein beetje stickles op de rug van het hertje kunnen doen :)

But this lovely deer gave me an idea for a CAS card. Simple and fun. Why? The three elements are connected. The grass is green and so is the tag. The text is about a deer. And the deer is standing in the grass. Two rounded corners accentuate the visual line (from top left to bottom right). I could add a little bit of stickles to the back of the deer :)

Vandaag gaat het over embellishments. De extra dingetjes die een kaart zo speels maken. Kristina Werner doet ons een gevouwen bloemetje voor met een inch cirkel pons. Die heb ik niet dus doe ik het met een inch vierkantje pons. De hoekjes heb ik afgerond met een andere pons.

Today it's all about embellishments. Those little thingies that make a card look playful. Kristina Werner gives us an example of a folded flower. She uses an inchie circle punch. I don't have that one, so I used my inchie square punch. I rounded the corners with another punch.

De tekst is de Happy Definition achtergrond stempel van Hero Arts. Omdat mijn bloemetje voornamelijk roze en rood is, heb ik de tekst met distress inkt fired brick gestempeld. Zie je de parel in het bloemenhart? Ik was niet helemaal tevreden over de scherpte van de vouwen, daarom de parel om het te verbergen. De paperclip bovenop is alleen even om de kaart een beetje goed op de foto te krijgen.

The text is the Happy Definition background stamp from Hero Arts. Because the color of my flower is mostly red and pink I stamped the text with distress ink fired brick. Notice the little pearl in the heart of the flower? I wasn't completely happy with the inside folds, therefor I used a pearl to cover it up. The paperclip on top is there only for the photo, to keep the card closed.

CAS homework day 4

Nog één kaartje dan en dan heb ik wel genoeg huiswerk gedaan voor vandaag! Op dag 4 werden we uitgedaagd om één stempel op drie verschillende manier te gebruiken. Dat heb ik niet gedaan maar ik werd wel geïnspireerd door een van de voorbeeld kaarten waarop een transparantje werd gebruikt. Ik heb dezelfde stempel gebruikt om de bovenrand wat op te leuken. Zelfde stempel, anders gebruikt!

One more card for today and then I think I did enough homework! On day 4 we were challenged to use one stamp in three different ways. I didn't do that but I let myself be inspired by one of the example cards using acetate. I used the same stamp to embellish the top edge. Same stamp, used in a different way!

CAS=Clean and Simpel. Nou soms is het niet zo clean en niet zo simpel! De truuk met CAS is dat het LIJKT ALSOF het zo GEMAKKELIJK is. Veel wit en licht en perfekt gestempeld. Och, het is zoooooo gemakkelijk ... NEE hoor!!

CAS = Clean and Simple. Well, let me tell you, sometimes it's not so clean and not so simple!! The trick with a CAS-card is making it LOOK LIKE it's such an EASY card. Clean an bright and perfect stamping, oh, it's sooooo easy ... NOT!!

Hier is nou een perfect voorbeeld van een goed idee met absoluut foute details. op het eerste gezicht is het een prachtige kaart, ik zal de eerste zijn om dat toe te geven. Maar de uitvoering is COMPLEET ongecontroleerd! Zie je de embossing rechts? Stukjes van de lijn weg en puntjes embossing poeder die aan het papier bleven kleven. De inkblending op de linker bloem her en der oneven: lichte en donkere plekken. En om het af te maken heb ik de tekst stempel te hard op het papier gedrukt. De lijnen zijn te dik geworden. Het idee is goed maar dit moet ik zeker overnieuw doen! Ik zou me schamen als ik deze kaart zou sturen!

And here is a perfect example of a good idea gone absolutely wrong at every detail. At first glance it's a charming card and it is! I'll be the first to admit that. But the execution is TOTALLY out of control. See the embossing on the right? Pieces of the line missing and spots of embossing powder sticking to the card. The uneven inkblending on the left flower? And, to top it off, I pressed the text to hard on the paper. The lines are too thick. The idea is a good one but I have to do this again. I would be ashamed if I had to sent this card!

Nou dit is beter. Verschillende structuur stempels met masker papier door elkaar gestempeld. Op een perfekt vierkant en met 3d-blokjes verhoogd opgeplakt. Een kleine tekst eronder omdat de structuren al druk genoeg zijn. En drie glimmertjes om het geheel op te leuken.

This is better. Different background structures, stamped in shapes with masking paper. Cut to a perfect square en raised of the white card with dimensional glue. A small text underneath because the structures give interest enough. And to finish it off three blingstones for a little shine.

CAS homework day 1 and 5

Zondag, geen bezoek, niks gepland, lekker tijd om te oefenen met CAS-huiswerk! Op dag 5 gaf Jennifer McGuire een les over "technieken simpel maken". Ze liet zien hoe je simpel een soort aquarel effect kan bereiken met inktsponsjes en inkt op waterbasis.

Sunday, no visitors, no plans, time to practice and do my CAS-homework! At day 5 Jennifer McGuire gave a lesson about "techniques made simple". She showed us how to do a kind of aquarel colorblocking with inkblendingtool and waterbased ink.

Ik heb hier (v.l.n.r.) distress inkt victorian velvet, barndoor red en adirondack shell pink gebruikt. En daarna de roos van Art Journey in dezelfde kleur er overheen gestempeld.
I used (left to right) distress ink victorian velvet and barndoor red and adirondack shell pink. After that I stamped the rose from Art Journey in the same color.

Dit is mijn inzending voor de Art Journey uitdaging "Perfect Pearls" Want de inkt is aangelengd met perfect pearls en water uit de minister voor een mooie glans.

This is my entry for the Art Journey challenge "Perfect Pearls". Because the inkt is mixed with perfect pearls and water in a minimister for a beautiful shine.

Hier mijn eigen ideetje. Een kleur inkt (barndoor red) en een rond masker. Ik ben er niet helemaal tevreden over, maar de techniek is leuk om te doen. Ik heb een paar dauwdruppels aangebracht met een transparante gel pen. Helaas pikt de foto het niet goed op; de inkt is gemixed met white pearl water uit de minimister. Er zit een prachtige glans over.

Here I tried a different approach. One color ink (barndoor red) and circle shape. I'm not completely happy with it, but at least the technique is fun to do. I did use aquarel paper and I added some transparent gelpen dewdrops, which will take a few hours to dry. Unfortunately the photo doesn't show it; the ink was mixed with white pearl water from the minimister. It has a gorgeous shine.

En als laatste nog een kaart volgens een schets van de 1e dag. Het was de bedoeling om diepte aan te brengen in de verticale lijn. Ik heb een zigzag gemaakt met de Large Canvas Stripes van Hero Arts. Het bloemetje is van de Tattered Florals snijmal van Tim Holtz. Structuur op het bloemetje is wit geëmbossed Diagonal Dictonary Type, ook van Hero Arts.

And last a card according to a sketch from day 1. We had to create depth on the vertical line. I made a zigzag pattern with Large Canvas Stripes from Hero Arts. The flower is from Tattered Florals die from Tim Holtz. Structure on the flower was made with white embossed Diagonal Dictonary Type, also from Hero Arts.

Clean and Simple Online Card Class!

Nou heb ik het gedaan! Ik heb me aangemeld voor de Online Card Class "Clean and Simple"! Die stijl trekt me toch steeds meer en ik hoorde allemaal goede en leuke verhalen van mensen die meedoen. Dus heb ik de sprong maar gewaagd en me ook aangemeld. Nou, het is zeker de moeite om er eens aan mee te doen hoor! Allemaal tips en truuks om CAS kaarten te verduidelijken en makkelijker te maken. Hier zijn mijn eerste pogingen om mijn huiswerk te doen:

Now I've done it! I signed on with Online Card Class "Clean and Simple"! I've always loved the CAS-style but I have trouble making a CAS-card "work". Why is one idea good and another absolutely worthless? In class I get all kinds of tips and tricks why some things work and why others don't. And there areseveral example cards to practice with. Here are my first attempts of doing my homework :

Dit is mijn versie van een schets op dag 1. Je hebt waarschijnlijk al meer van deze kaarten gezien, maar ik vond de schets zo leuk dat ik hem ook wilde proberen.

This is my version of a sketch on day 1. You have probably seen more of these cards, but I loved the sketch and wanted to try it.

Deze is een CASE van een voorbeeld kaart. Ik moest wel wat stempels vervangen maar het is toch een aardig geheel geworden.

I CASEd this example card. I had to substitute some stamps but I think it's still a nice card!

De tekst loopt op de binnenkant door. Een leuke truuk om een vrij eenvoudige buitenkant tot een visueel interessant geheel te maken.

Vloeiend Stempelen - Faded Stamping

Een weekje geleden kwam ik op het idee om maar een gedeelte van de stempel te inkten en de randjes zacht te laten overlopen naar het wit van de achtergrond. Vloeiend stempelen dus. Sindsdien heb ik een aantal vragen gekregen over wat ik nu precies doe. Daarom heb ik deze kleine uitleg gemaakt met de Large Flower Pattern stempel van Hero Arts. Voor vloeiend stempelen heb je wel een stempel nodig met voldoende stempeloppervlak. Een stempel met alleen lijnen werkt niet!

A week ago I got the idea of inking only part of a stamp and make the edges soft. Faded stamping I call it. Since then, a few people sent me messages asking for details on how I did it. So I made a little tutorial to show you with the Large Flower Pattern stamp from Hero Arts. For faded stamping you do need a stamp with enough ink surface. A stamp with only lines doesn't work for this technique!

Als eerste een voorbeeld van een klein stukje stempel afgedrukt. Je kan zien waar ik inkt op de stempel heb aangebracht. Eerst stevig inkten in het midden en dan naar buiten toe steeds voorzichtiger inkten.

Here is an example of inking only the large flower in the middle of the stamp. You can see where I inked on the stamp. I pressed the inkpad firmly in the middle and worked my way outward, pressing softer and softer.

Hier heb ik een iets groter oppervlak beïnkt. Zelfde manier. Werkend vanuit het midden van het gedeelte dat ik wil stempelen, eerst stevig inkten en naar buiten toe steeds zachter het inktkussen tegen de stempel drukken. De zachte buitenrand krijg je door heel voorzichtig het inktkussentje tegen de stempel te tikken.

Here I inked a little more of the stamp. Same technique. Starting in the middle of the portion I want, pressing firmly. Then working my wayoutward, pressing softer towards the outside. The outer edge is no more than softly tapping the inkpad against the stamp.

Hier heb ik de gehele stempel gebruikt. De enige plek waar geen inkt zit is de buitenrand. Dat zou een scherpe lijn geven bij het afdrukken. En dat wilde ik nou juist niet. Het lijkt een beetje op een oude foto waarvan de buitenrand vervaagd is.

And here I used the whole stamp. I tried to avoid getting ink on the outside edge of the stamp. That would cause a firm line to appear when stamping. And that's not the image I wanted. It's almost like those old photo's where the outside is clouded to give it soft feel.

En dit zijn de afgemaakt kaarten. Elke afdruk heeft andere eigenschappen. Een kleine afdruk heeft wat meer nodig aan rand en kleur (linker kaart) De grootste afdruk (kaart rechts) is fors genoeg om een hele kaart te vullen. Ik heb er slechts een tekstje (beterschap) bij gedaan. De middelste afdruk is te klein om een kaart te vullen. De rand was te breed en te wit. Dus heb ik daar een andere achtergrond stempel bij gebruikt: Raindrop Background van Hero Arts. Die laat voldoende wit om de aandacht niet van de focus af te leiden.
Ik hoop dat het duidelijk is. Misschien wil je het nu zelf proberen. Het is een manier om nog meer plezier van je stempels te hebben! Veel plezier!

Here are the finished cards. Each image has its own limits. The small image needed a firm border in color (card on the left) The big image (card on the right) was bold enough to fill a whole card on its own. I only added a sentiment (get well soon). The medium image was too small to fill the card but too large to need a big border. I just filled up the white background space with Raindrop Background, which leaves enough white and doesn't overpower the image in the middle.

Open en Solid Flower

Na de Dogwood in roze kaart zie ik de wereld door een roze bril, geloof ik. Ik kan alleen maar aan roze denken! Dus heb ik de small open en solid flower van Hero Arts maar weer tevoorschijn gehaald. Maar, oh man, wat een toestand om die twee goed uitgelijnd te krijgen! Als iemand een tip heeft om die twee stempels goed op elkaar te krijgen, hou ik me aanbevolen! Ik heb wel 10 misdrukken weggegooid, geloof ik! Uiteindelijk kreeg ik een afdruk die, in mijn ogen, redelijk was gelukt.

After the Dogwood in pink card, 2 days ago, it seems I can only think pink! I dug out the small open and solid flower from Hero Arts. But, oh dear, what a pain to get a good print! If anyone can give me a tip about getting those two stamps lined up , I'd be most grateful! After throwing away like 10 misprints, I finally got a reasonable one.

Fotograferen wil ook niet zo best met die sombere weer hier in Nederland. Ik weet niet of je het zien kan maar de bovenrand is met een randpons bewerkt. De twee vlindertjes zijn geëmbossed op perkamentpapier met wild plum adirondack embossing poeder. Tekst is ook van Hero Arts.

Taking a photo isn't easy nowadays. Because it's almost always overcast and very rainy outside. I don't know if you can see it but the top border has been punnched with a scalloped border punch. Both butterflies are embossed with wild plum adirondack embossing powder on parchment paper. Text stamp from Hero Arts too.

Ik heb een klein beetje diamond stickles op de vleugels gedaan. Met dit depressieve weer kan ik alle bling gebruiken om een beetje vrolijk te blijven!

I applied a tiny bit of diamond stickles to the butterflies. With our depressing weather I can use all the shine I can get!

Zachtroze - Pretty in Pink

Hero Arts heeft een nieuwe uitdaging deze maand. Kijk maar eens op hun pagina. De kruisjes en nulletjes (hugs and kisses) deden me direkt denken aan de Dogwood. Het bloemetje is immer precies een kruisje!

Hero Arts has a new challenge this month. Take a look at their challenge page. The crosses and circles (hugs and kisses) reminded me of the Dogwood. That flower looks like a cross!

Bovendien heb ik een leuke serie kleuren brilliance dewdrop inkt. Roze, heel erg roze, purple, blauw en zilver. Past precies bij de kleur uitdaging van Hero Arts deze maand. Ik had een gedeelte van de Dogwood gestempeld voor de bloemen en die afdruk gaf me nog een ideetje.

Besides, I have some Brilliance dewdrop ink in matching colors. Pink, very pink, purple, blue and silver. They fulfill the colorchallenge of this month precisely. I stamped part of the Dogwood three times to get the flowers and those imperfect images gave me another idea.

Een stempel hoeft niet helemaal perfect afgedrukt te worden. Zeker niet als je een zachte kleur gebruikt. Het geeft een dromerig, romantische uitstraling als je de randjes niet inkt. Met deze techniek ga ik nog wat experimenteren denk ik. Ik vind het wel mooi!

A stamped image doesn't have to be perfect. Especially when using a soft color. It has a dreamy, romantic glow if you don't ink the edges. I think I will experiment further with this technique. I really like it!

Look what Tim sent me!

Vandaag was er POST VOOR MIJ! Een DIKKE envelop uit Amerika van TIM HOLTZ! Mijn reactie was op dag 11 van de 12 tags willekeurig gekozen. Ik kan nu wel zeggen dat ik de afgelopen 10 dagen mijn postbus SCHERP in de gaten heb gehouden, LOL!

Today I GOT MAIL!!! A BIG envelop from America from TIM HOLTZ!! My name was chosen from the random comments on day 11. I have to tell you I practically camped out at my mailbox the last 10 days, LOL!

En toen ik de envelop open maakte kwam dit eruit. Dit is GEWELDIG! Ik vind deze stempelset zo leuk met al die kleinere kerst/winter stempels maar had hem nog niet aangeschaft. En ik heb nog niet zoveel embossing folders. Nu kan ik al die fantastische embossing technieken uitvoeren. Je weet wel, met inkt in de embossing folder enzo. Mijn eerst kerst kadootje en het is een PERFECT kado voor mij! Tim en Mario, HEEL ERG BEDANKT!

And when I opened the envelop this is what came out. It is GORGEOUS! I love this stampset with all the little christmas stamps but never got around to buying it. And I don't have that many embossing folders. I can't wait to try out the embossing techniques with ink inside the folder! My first Christmas present and it's a perfect one for me! THANK YOU Tim and Mario!!

Sharing two pictures

Ik wilde nog even wat delen voor de kerst. Allereerst alle 12 tags samen in één plaatje. Weet je nog dat tag 11 me inspireerde tot het maken van de 12-tags strip? Je kan die hier lezen als je dat nog niet gedaan had.

I wanted to share these pictures with you before christmas. First all my tags together. Remember tag 11 inspired me to do a 12-tags comic! You can read it here, if you haven't done so already.

En nog een kaartenset. Ik kan er nog geen genoeg van krijgen. Bovendien is het een prachtig kadootje voor de kerst!

And another cardset. I can't seem to get enough of them. Besides, a cardset is a wonderful present for christmas!

Ik vroeg me af hoe het zou lijken als ik een glas in lood raam zou namaken met de delicate blossoms set. Ik heb een aantal kleuren gecombineerd. Van links naar rechts: dusty concord/forest moss, broken china/crushed olive, spiced marmelade/mustard seed en barndoor red/tea dye.

Three Ferns cardset in green

De laatste kaartenset is ook klaar. In groen, zoals ik gisteren al zei, en met de Three Ferns stempel van Hero Arts. Nu nog doosjes maken om ze netjes te verpakken voor onder de kerstboom. En dat werd tijd ook! Nog zes dagen te gaan tot het kerst is! En ik moet nog zoveel doen!

The last cardset is finished. A set in green, like I said yesterday, and made with the Three Ferns stamp from Hero arts. Now I have to fabricate some boxes to put all the sets in and wrap them for under the christmas tree. It's about time! Only 6 more days to go before Christmas! I have still so much to do!

Ik heb kleine vierkantjes gesneden en bestempeld. Daarna de vierkantjes met UTEE geëmbossed (3x) totdat het een mooi glad oppervlak kreeg. Net kleine glazen tegeltjes.

Ik cut squares and stamped the image. Then I embossed them with UTEE (3x) until the surface became smooth. Just like little glass tiles.

Met verschillende inkten gesponsd en gestempeld. De bloemen kreeg ik van Marilyn via de Hero Arts flickr groep. Er zaten ook een paar vilten knopen bij. Zo leuk! Dank je Marilyn!

Blended and stamped with different colors distress ink. The flowers were a gift from Marilyn. I know her from the Hero Arts flickr group. She also sent me matching felt buttons. I love them! Thanks Marilyn!

Ik heb de goudkleurige spetters gemaakt met een kwastje en een beetje aquarelverf.

I made the gold colored splatters with aquarel paint and a paintbrush.

Hier de stempel beïnkt met distress inkt forest moss and fired brick op de randjes. Dan krijg je deze leuke kleurovergang. Weer de bloemen van Marilyn erbij en een cloisonne vaasstempel van Michael Strong. Deze kaart is mijn bijdrage voor Ellen Hutson LLC Hero Arts Wood Take 'n Make. De Three Ferns stamp is een houten stempel!

Here I inked the stamp with distress ink forest moss and a little fired brick on the leaves. I like this double colored stamping. I used some flowers from Marilyn again. Delicate flowers 2

De laatste twee kaarten met de Delicate Blossoms stempelset van Hero Arts. Eentje weer in rood op wit (Het kan niet missen met die kleur combinatie!) Met bijpassende enveloppen natuurlijk. Met de kaartenset in blauw, geel en rood compleet, moet ik nu aan de slag met de laatste kaartenset die overwegend groen zal worden.

Last two cards with the Delicate Blossoms stamps from Hero Arts. One in red (you can't go wrong with those colors!) and one in orange. With matching envelopes, off course. With the blue, yellow and red cardset complete, I now have to start on the last cardset which will be in green.

Gedeeltelijk gestempelde bloemen met een kader uit de hand er om heen getekend. Twee bloemen gekleurd met barndoor red distress inkt en uitgeknipt.

Een acryl blok ingesmeerd met victorian velvet, spiced marmelade en fired brick distress inkt. Natgespoten en op het paper gedrukt. Dan krijg je een mooie aquarel achtergrond. De bloemen gestempeld met stazon en lichtjes bijgekleurd met dezelfde kleuren. Dit is mijn bijdrage voor de CAS-ual Friday uitdaging CFC32: Signed, Sealed and Delivered.

I inked an acrylic block with victorian velvet, spiced marmelade and fired brick distress inks. I sprayed it with water and pushed firmly onto the paper. This technique gives a nice aquarel background. I stamped the flowers with stazon and gave them a bit more color with the same colors. This is my entry for the CAS-ual Friday challenge CFC32: Signed, Sealed and Delivered.

Delicate Blossoms

Ik kan niet geloven hoeveel LIEVE reacties ik kreeg op de Hydrangea kaarten van gisteren! Iedereen heel hartelijk bedankt! Speciaal de "hydrangea's in de vaas" kaart kreeg veel complimenten. Ik wilde hetzelfde proberen met de Delicate Blossoms stempels. Maar het mocht niet lukken. Ik weet niet precies wat ik verkeerd deed. Maar hoe meer ik ernaar kijk, hoe meer ik het een lelijke kaart vind. Ben je klaar? Hier komt tie:

You won't believe how many LOVELY comments I got on yesterdays Hydrangea cardset! Thank you all so much! Especially the hydrangea in the vase card was a big succes. I wanted to try the same with the Delicate Blossoms stamps. But it didn't work out. I don't know exactly what I did wrong. The more I look at it, the more I think it's a complete failure. Are you ready? Here it comes:

OK, je kan je ogen weer opendoen. Ik denk dat ik het verkeerde dessin papier gekozen heb. De bloemen zien er gewoon niet goed uit. Er hangen zelfs al twee slap naast de vaas! Misschien moet ik ze water geven. Morgen zal ik het nog eens proberen en dan ga ik de bloemen gewoon weer kleuren met distress inkt en een water penseel.
Mijn volgende kaart is mijn bijdrage voor de Play Date Cafe challenge (PDCCC111).

OK, you can open your eyes again! I think I chose the wrong dessin paper. The flowers just don't look good. There are even two that are already down! Maybe I should water them! I think I'll try again tomorrow and then just color the flowers with distress inks and a water pencil.

Hmm, nou ik het eens goed bekijk denk ik dat ik iets teveel blauw heb gebruikt en iets te weinig zwart! Ik heb geprobeerd zoveel mogelijk structuur te gebruiken. Vellum, wit embossing poeder, wit lint. Maar toch vind ik het wel mooi geworden. De kleuren adirondack aqua en pool zijn prachtig samen, vind je niet?
Als laatste een traditionele delicate blossoms in rood. Ik hou van rood op wit! De bloemen komen er echt goed uit zo. Met rood op wit kan het gewoon niet fout gaan.

Hmm, now that I think about it, maybe I used a little too much teal and too little black! I started with trying to use lots of different textures. Vellum paper, embossing in white, white ribbon. Still, I like how it turned out: lovely color adirondack aqua and pool, don't you think?
Lastly I made a card in a conventional red color. The poppies really POP with this color on white! It's a combination that can't go wrong.

This is my entry for the Ellen Hutson LLC Hero Arts Clear Take 'n Make. I used a perforated mask to ink the dots on the background. A light green card behind the poppies gives the card dimension. I put some clear dots here and there on the flowers for dewdrops. I don't know if you can see them on the photo. Maybe on the big flower in the middle?

Hydrangea

Een setje kaarten is natuurlijk een prachtig kadootje om te geven met kerstmis. Bovendien is het leuk om de rest van de familie eens te laten zien waar je nou altijd zo enthousiast mee bezig bent. Stempels en inkt, daar kunnen de meese mensen zich maar weinig bij voorstellen. De ene afdruk is precies gelijk aan de andere nietwaar? Niet dus. Wij weten wel beter: één stempel en tien kaartenmaaksters is wel honderd verschillende kaarten!
Vanavond een setje met de Hydrangea van Hero Arts.

A set of cards is a nice gift to give with Christmas, isn't it? Besides, it's fun to show the rest of the family why you are so enthralled with your craft. Most people can't imagine the hubbub about stamps and ink. One stamp gives the same image every time, right? Wrong! We know better, don't we? One stamp and ten crafters makes for a hundred different cards!
Tonight I have to show you this set made with Hydrangea from Hero Arts.

Yellow Dogwood cardset

Het regent nu al een aantal dagen. En het blijft maar regenen ... en regenen. Ik heb nu toch serieus behoefte om de ZON weer eens te zien! Dus heb ik mij vanavond vermaakt met een zonnige kaartenset. Ik heb in ieder geval niet naar de natte wereld buiten hoeven kijken, zolang ik hiermee bezig was.
It has been raining a lot lately. And it keeps raining ... and raining. I am in serious need for some SUNLIGHT! So I made this cardset in sunny yellow and I feel a lot better now! At least I didn't have to look at the wet world outside.

Tag 12

Clackety, clackety, choo choo, clackety, clackety, clackety WOOH WOOH! The TIM TRAIN has arrived at the last station! Everybody leave the train and don't forget your luggage!
Yes, dear readers, we have arrived at the last tag, no.12. But I am happy. We had a journey loaded with techniques, inks and vintage goods. I had a wonderful time yesterday, when I created Tim's comic. (Take a look if you haven't read it yet! guaranteed to make you smile!)
And today, like the cherry on the cake, MY COMMENT WAS CHOOSEN! Jippiéééé! I can look forward to one of those wonderful packages Mario showed us tauntingly on twitter BTS photo's!
But before we say goodbye, let's take a look at tag 12, shall we?

It's a lovely blue white tag with lots of different details. As usual I had to substitute almost every one of them! Here is my take on tag 12:

Because I started this journey with the bird and cage when I gave the bird a choice: fly away or stay with me, I wanted to end with it too. The bird chose to stay with me! Today I gave him a lovely vintage cage with a christmas star on top. He likes it very much!
Here are some details for you to enjoy:

I found this little christmas ornament in my drawer where I keep al the "left-overs". It's attached to a memory pin by two jump rings.

I love how the birdcage came out! First I colored the grungepaper cage with green and blue and then I melted some UTEE over it. I did not completely cover it with UTEE but left some spots uncovered. Then I went over it with walnut stain. I love the patina effect!

These are sticky fabric letters. I didn't want to use a real christmas word because I thought it would be fun to end with .. erhmm.. well ... FUN! It has been fun, hasn't it? I used a black pen to color the appropriate edges to suggest dimension.
I made the flower with a simple white tissue. I just peeled the layers loose and colored the edges of the squares with crushed olive and broken china. Then I made the flower according to Tim's tutorial.

Here we are fellow travelers! Got all your luggage? Didn't forget anything? Oh please, let's HUG! It has been a wonderful journey together! The engine driver, Tim, got us safely on time at our destination. The conductor, Mario, treated us with fantastic BTS photo's and stories. It has been a wonderful journey with beautiful vista's. Now it's time to say goodbye. But I'm sure we will bump into each other during the year. And next year on december 1st we will hop on the TIM-TRAIN again!

12 Tags of Christmas - a christmas story

Remember my take on tag 11? Well, I have been busy today (about 8 hours I think, all together) and created the complete comic! Without further ado: ENJOY!

And now I'm ready for something nice to drink! After 8 hours of making up the storyline, dividing panels, choosing colors and techniques, altering photo's in photoshop and countless misprints of texts, I am a little tired!

P.S. to answer a question in the comments (btw, thanks for all your sweet comments!): I did sent a tweet to Mario and he saw it. (even tweeted me back "so cool"!) So I imagine Tim saw it too.

Tag 11

Here we are already at tag 11, only one more tag to go. Time sure flies when you're having fun. (or did I say that already?!)
At first glance I didn't like tag 11 so much. I mean: melting pot? Don't have it! Comical Santa? Don't have it! Big text merry christmas? Don't have it! You see my despair beginning to emerge? Let's take a look at today's tag:

But then I stared some more at Tim's tag and an idea began to form in the deepest corners of my mind. And while working on tag 11 with stuff I DO HAVE, it all became clear. It's a COMIC! Yes, it really is! It's a panel of a comic book, where Santa is laughing because all is well with the world! See for yourself:

I can see the story unfold before my eyes. Tim and Mario in trouble because the tags are missing, a search with the reindeer Rudolph helping them and at last Santa laughing. He knew all the beautifully wrapped packages would be on time under the christmas tree! Hmm, maybe I will do the rest of the story in comic form too! Btw: the Happy Holidays text comes from Hero Arts stampset Happy Holiday Trees.
Here are some details for you to enjoy.

A long time ago I did bought a pot of UTEE. I cut out some holly leaves and colored them. Then I pushed them into some UTEE and melted it. Covered it some more, melted, added a third layer and then it looked enough like Tims gorgeous shrink plastic embellishments.

I needed an example of the font used in comics. Therefor I printed the text in "comic sans MS" font so I could copy it on my take of tag 11.

Then I searched through some comic books to see how comic writers made their characters do loud yells. I found a simple font I could do myself.
Well, there you are. Even a tag you don't like at first glance can take you on an unexpected journey!

Movie card

What do you do on a free Saturday when the kids are amusing themselves and the DH is busy somewhere else? I don't know what you do but at a time like this I disappear in my craftroom to play with the ideas I got this week!

Since I saw this card from Sarah I wanted to do this with the flower from the Hero Arts fern and hummingbird stampset. I love the brightness of these colors. It's like four different flowers on the card! Finished it off with three little green blings. Layout is one of the Hero Arts sketches turned on it's side.

I got this idea a few days ago. I wanted to make a kind of film in roll with an admission ticket. I took a bit of artistic freedom with the Hero Arts challenge sketch, because it's supposed to have three focus points and I have five. But with this movie it's better to tell the story of the flying flower in five pictures. It has more movement this way. Sentiment says in dutch "flowers for you".

Tag 10

Tag 10 already! Time flies when you're having fun, doesn't it? Tim made a beautiful one today with facet ornaments, stamping and embossing. Take a look:

I have no facets but a few years ago I bought fragments and they work just as well. My DH drilled a little hole in each one. He is a dentist so he has the little drills needed for such fine work! Here is my take on tag 10:

I made the banner myself from kraft colored paper. The edges were darkened with pumice stone. I love the optical dimension I achieved. Here are some details for you to enjoy!

I knew this little bell would come in handy someday! He feels at home on this card!

I love the dark green embossing of the branches. The edge of the fragment is covered with gold stickles.

White fabric letters, colored with gold alcohol ink and made glossy with glossy accents. I tried to enhance the dimension of the banner by using the Ranger white gelpen and drawing some lines. It's almost like the letters are dancing on the banner!

Tag 9

After another long day of trying to keep myself focused on my work, I finally got some playtime in my craftroom. And I can tell you concentrating at work was very difficult after I took a sneak peek at todays tag! I am a bit tired now, so all I managed were two similar cards. Let's take a look at Tim's tag 9 first shall we? I absolutely LOVE this technique! Double inking and double embossing, what more can a stamp crafter want?

Tim Holtz explains everything perfectly so I'm not going to explain the technique itself. I'll just upload my cards and let your imagination run wild!

This was the first one that popped into my head. Don't these stunning snowflakes just pop with the faded jeans blue background to set them off?

Then I thought I try Tims color combination too with the holly flourish stamp. Unfortunately my set of winter distress inks is still not available! I confined myself to barndoor red, pine needles and vintage photo. The result became vintage! Luckily I found this ribbon that matched the vintage feel of the colors.

Close-up of the faded jeans and chipped sapphire embossing. I still had a piece of teardrop ribbon left in my ribbon drawer. Lucky me!

Beautiful texture of the double embossing technique. I twisted the craft twine around a pencil, like Tim did on tag 3.

Tag 8

You probably thought I had forgotten todays tag! Well no, but I had to work the whole day because my colleague is sick. She is on the mend but still couldn't come to work yet.
I must say I don't really like everything about Tag 8. It has to much different random elements to my taste.

I like it better when Tim is using all kinds of inking techniques and embellishments that complement the technique used. He is so creative when it comes to combining colors! Here is my take on tag 8:

That's right, I made a card! Look at all that white space! I tried to keep it clean and simple while still using some of the techniques of tag 8. Here are some details for you to enjoy. I'll explain how tag 8 inspired me.

A bunch of red beads from three red berries. Inspired by the texture of the holly leaves and red stickles Tim used for berries on the men's hats. The little flourishes were colored with vintage photo distress ink and covered with a bit of copper stickles. Inspired by the metal elements on tag 8.

I embossed the fabulous flourish from Hero Arts and used it as a resist with barndoor red and peeled paint. Inspired by the resist technique on tag 8 in the background.

Black embossed word. I tought DREAM would be appropriate because I dreamed this card up while musing about all the different elements of tag 8! Besides, isn't christmas a time to dream? And aren't Tim's 12-tags inspiring you to dream about all his wonderful stamps and inks and.. and...
Huh...? What...? Oh sorry, I must have dozed off!

Tag 7

I love todays tag, I really do! All kinds of surfaces, different kinds of using ink, different inks, a little embossing, a bit of paint dabber snowcap. There are too many details to name them all. Let's just take a look at Tim's tag 7. Isn't it a beauty?

As usual I found some substitutes for the products he is using. For instance: Kraft glassine. It looks like a fantastic product to work with but what could be a reasonable substitute if you don't have it right now? Well, since I had seen craft glassine for the first time, I wanted to try some parchment paper for baking. It's has some of the same properties as glassine: smooth surface and folds stay visible when it's crumpled. Here is my take on tag 7:

I found that the parchment paper for baking is much thinner and won't stay in shape. Blèh! It was also very hard to get some color on it with alcohol inks. Next time I'm at my LSS I'll get some craft glassine paper, I promise! But in the meantime it is a more or less reasonable substitute. Here are some details for you to enjoy:

Sentiment from Hero Arts Happy Holiday Trees set. Embossed in black and snow on top made with white enamel accents.

I just knew these silver colored beads would come in handy someday. I must have had them for years! I colored them with alcohol ink red pepper in a plastic bag. Just like Tim explains on his blog.

Elegant flourishes cut out of grungepaper and colored gold with alcohol ink gold. I sanded them a bit and used frayed burlap to cover the patches. instand tarnished gold! A bit of paint dabber snowcap and white enamel accents resemble the snow.

Tag 6

Today Tim Holtz used metal foil to creat his tag 6. Take a look:

I used silver colored paper. And because I don't have the primairy colors (red, blue, green) of paint dabbers, I used alcohol ink to color it. I think it came out allright but it's more like the tag he made in 2009.

I did give it a bit more embellishment with a memory pin and two tickets. Oh well, we don't have to copy his tags as long as we have fun creating SOMETHING, right?! Here are some details for you to enjoy:

I used the tiny attacher to hold the pin in place and give the edges a bit more interest. I used a lot of different embossing folders for this!

A piece of silver guilande was knotted in the red dotted ribbon. Looks festive!

Metal foil around the card to cover up the inevitable paper edges. I covered the card with some walnut stain ink and embossed it transparant. This card has enough texture!

Tag 5

Tim Holtz used a known techique today but it's a GREAT technique. You can have even more fun with your stamps! Take a look at his tag:

I did it with the Classic Fabric stamp because I don't have the backwards text stamps. And it's best if you use a stamp with bold lines.

I used Alcohol ink in all red colors (cranberry, red pepper etc.) I had this green twine for ages and I thought it would make a good wrath. It was held in place by glossy accents. Here is a detail of the beads for you to enjoy:

Because it's very fluffy I could not glue beads on it. Instead I sowed with needle and thread some beads around it. To make them a bit more obvious I used stickles stardust.

Tag 4

Tim made a gorgeous tag for today! I just love the blue and white and shimmer and .. and ... everything!

But, as usual, I had to find substitutes for a couple of things. The focus of this tag is the snowman with the numbers 2 and 5 cut out of his belly. Well, I don't have any of those, but can you tell from my tag? No? I tell you a secret: I drew and cut it out BY HAND!!! It took a little time, yes, but I think the endresult was worth the effort! Take a look:

I took the houses die (which I borrowed from Christa!) and some punched out snowflakes. Because I have the houses at the bottom I didn't want to add buttons there. It would clutter up the bottom edge too much. Here are some details for you to enjoy!

White enamel accents for snow on windowsills and rooftops.

Snowflakes stamped in weathered wood and flourish with frostwhite pigment ink.

Hero Arts 90 minutes scramble

Tonight Nancy was hostess of the Hero Arts 90 minutes scramble. The rules are you have to make and upload your project in 90 minutes. Nancy gave us a wonderful photo made by her daughter Sarah for inspiration:

We could use anything from the photo to base our cards upon. At first the white table and the crumpled edges of the bags inspired me. I tried to find buttons in earth colors.

The first card was ready in 30 minutes so I started on a second one. I think the second one came out the better one. I like it better, anyway! I was inspired by the beautiful earth colors, especially the golden yellow saffron! And I used one of the sketches of the Hero Arts december challenge.

The star ornament can be used in so many ways! I did flick some golden-colored droplets on the basic card. The circles were colored with distress ink mustard seed.
I do so love these scrambles. At first you think you can't do it: get inspired, think of the general layout you want and then create and photograph and upload your card in 90 minutes. But when you get going it's so much fun! Go and see what everyone else made of this challenge in 90 minutes!

Tag 3

Good afternoon bloggers! Here is tag 3, made with Tims favorite technique "cut 'n dry felt custom mde stamp pads". Unfortunately, I don't use cut 'n dry, but fortunately Tim included other techniques in the bonus section!

For todays tag I went with the watercolor look. I had the phrase "A snowflake is winters Butterfly" in my head all day, so I don't think you'll be surprised at my take on tag 3! The butterflies are beautiful and like the snowflakes blend in with the background.

I stamped and inkblended my favorite colorcombination (broken china and shabby shutters) and used a (like ready made custom inkpad) Big and Juicy inkpad Waterfall to stamp the butterflies. Everything is sprayed with water (the butterflies with a water/perfect pearl mix from the minimister for a pearly shine) to achieve the watercolor look. Here are some details for you to enjoy!

Rhinestones for the butterfly bodies. Too bad the camera doesn't pick up the pearly shine. It's really lovely. Like fairy butterflies!

A bell and a key I saved from a 2ct child bracelet.

Frayed edges from the background stickyback canvas.

Tonight I will participate in another Hero Arts 90 minutes scramble. I can hardly wait! Those scrambles are always so much fun!

A new Hero Arts stamp: Delicate Blossoms

My mojo is really flowing these days. I wonder why ... LOL! I told you about the prize I won with a Hero Arts scramble challenge. This is the second stamp from that prize. It is called Delicate Blossoms and oh boy ... are they DELICATE! And DELICIOUS! I made this card set with it. It looks like I'm totally in love with red on white color combination.

These are a gift set for one of my darling SIL's, I don't know which one yet! I already have ideas for the next set and going to challenge myself with another color combination! Here are the cards separately:

I stamped the blossom with versamark black on the card. Then a second print to color with distress ink barndoor red. I cut out three blossoms and glued them on the first print. Then I colored the rest of the blossom very lightly with adirondack salmon and juniper.

The two blossoms side by side embossed in white on a red card. Less is more! Just a bit of twine on the side randomly fastened with whte brads. Background dots sponged with distress ink barndoor red and masking dots.

The last card has more elements. Large canvas stripes with barndoor red distress ink, a small border with a border punch. The delicate blossom partly cut out over the border. And three brads to complement the three blossoms in red. Did you notice the different rounded corners? Oh and I just noticed: I used no stickles! None of these cards need stickles! I wonder if I will experience withdrawal tonight?

Tag 2

And here is TAG 2. Everyone has scrambled madly yesterday to get his/her tag uploaded and to enjoy all the tags made around the world and viewable with inlinkz. (Why don't we rename that to INKLINKZ for the duration of Tims 12 Tags?!!) Take a look at Tims tag 2:

Gorgeous isn't it? Cute reindeer! But I had to find another shape. So I went with a christmas tree. I used only Art Journey stamps today. From the sets "Noel", "Men" and "Christmas Tree". The background paper comes from a (cheap!) paperblock. I used it because it had some embossed snowflakes.
No distress stain picket fence here, in fact I have no distress stains AT ALL! So I substituted some paint dabber snowcap, liberally watered down on my craft sheet to make the transparent white layer. Made some white pearl mist in a minimister and sprayed that on my hand so I could flick droplets.

I decorated the tree with a green ribbon which I covered in stickles holly. And the brads were white. I colored them with alcohol ink ginger in a plastic bag.
Well, there you have it: my take on tag 2. Here are some details for you to enjoy!

A little branch on the Art Journey "Men" set becomes a holly branch when colored green and stamped mutiple times. See the delicate white snowflakes? That stamp comes from the "Noel"set and I stamped it with frostwhite.

The ribbon is colored with watered frayed burlap distress ink on the craftsheet. I crumpled it and let it dry. A little piece of vintage lace, colored the same, is my substitue for the piece of burlap on Tims tag.

Details of the green ribbon with the stickles holly the embossed snowflakes and the brads. I just wrapped it around the tree. See the frayed edges of the stickyback canvas on grungepaper? I colored the tree with old paper distress ink and stamped a darling christmas tree from the Art Journey "Christmas Tree"set on it. The brads were punched with a pointy screw! See the difference in coloring on the brads? That happens when you just let alcohol ink dry naturally.

Star Ornament

Two weeks ago I participated in the Hero Arts 90 minute scramble. Which means you have to create a card acoording to the challenge and upload it within 90 minutes. Now you know why it is a "scramble"!
Trinh gave us a lovely challenge: "Use a stamp in an unexpected way" or "Make a non-holiday card using fall or winter holiday stamps." I decided to go with the first rule. I used a tie stamp for clock arms. You can see it here. And I won! Today my prize came in. Trinh sent me (among other goodies) a lovely Star Ornament stamp from Hero Arts. I made this card with it:

Embossed with silver and cut out in layers it's a wonderful stamp with perfect lines and details. I'm sure I can think of more uses for it!

TAG 1

It's december 1st and Tim has started his 12 Tags of Christmas fun! And what a fabulous start! Just check out his TAG 1. He uses so many techniques here, I can't count them all!

Each year it is a struggle to come up with something similar. I want to use his techniques but I also have to adapt them to the products I have here. It's fun to see if I can think of alternate possibilities, but hey, that is what the journey is all about, isn't it?!
Here is my take on TAG 1:

I used the caged bird this time. The bird is embossed with glitter red embossing powder. I cut out two cages and used part of the second one to make the door of the cage stand open. After all we have to make our own choices in life therefor the bird gets a choice too!
I used Enamel Accents white on the flower and black for the eye of the bird. The heart of the flower consist of a lot of little red beads, glued with Glossy Accents. I made the music strip myself with a music stamp and distress ink old paper and walnut stain.

Ik heb vanmiddag nog snel even een kadootje gemaakt voor de jubilaressen van vanavond. Het is een doosje gemaakt met het geleende score board van Christa. En het past precies om een dikke reep chocolade. Bijpassende stempels erop: Dogwood en Fabulous Flourish.

Ideeën krijg ik regelmatig en als ik de kans heb probeer ik ze gelijk uit. Some lukt het niet en gooi ik het halve resultaat in de prullenbak. Zoals gisteravond, toen er weer twee projecten mislukten.
Maar soms dan werkt het wel zoals je ziet bij onderstaande kaarten: simpel, klassiek en mooi.
Every so often I get ideas and have to try them immediately. Sometimes they don't work. Like yesterday when I threw two failures into the dustbin. But sometimes they do work, like these cards: simple, classic and beautiful.

Eeeh ... Dogwood? Nog een keer? Ja, natuurlijk! Die stempel is toch zo prachtig! En je kan er van alles mee doen. Embossen, randjes maken, compleet stempelen in allerlei kleuren, combineren met andere stempels of bloemetjes. je kan het zo gek niet bedenken of Dogwood past erbij!
Eeeh ... Dogwood? Again? Yes of course! That stamp is so beautiful! And you can use every technique with it. Embossing, stamping edges, complete image in all colors, combine it with other stamps or flowers. You can get into some crazy stamping with Dogwood!

Jubileumkaarten

Het is weer zover. We hebben weer een jubileum te vieren van twee dames die 40 jaar lid zijn van onze sociëteit. Bij een feestje maak ik altijd de kaartjes die op tafel staan en de gasten verwelkomen. Deze keer heb ik het in wit en neutraal gehouden. De prachtige Dogwood stempel van Hero Arts kon ik niet laten liggen. Die heb ik per slot van rekening nog maar net en die ligt dus voor de greep!
It's time again for a party. Two ladies celebrate their 40 year membership anniversary with our society. It's becomming a tradition for me to create the cards on the table that welcome the guests. This time I kept it in white and neutral. Of course I just had to use the Dogwood stamp from Hero Arts again. I am so totally in love with those flowers!

De Dogwood is geëmbossed in goud. Verder heb ik veel bloemetjes geponst en aan de linkerkant over een flourish van Tim Holtz geplakt. Een beetje stickles diamond laat ze schitteren!

Dogwood stamp

Mijn mojo komt altijd beter op gang als ik een uitdaging volg. Er waren weer een paar prachtige schetsen beschikbaar. Bijvoorbeeld deze van Saturday Challenge #161 Ik heb me even lekker uitgeleefd met de prachtige Dogwood en Three Ferns stempels van Hero Arts.
My mojo is always gets in gear when I use a challenge. I found some gorgeous sketches. For example this one: Saturday Challenge #161. I amused myself with the Dogwood and Three Ferns stamps from Hero arts.

Ook voor de CAS-ual Fridays CFC#29 uitdaging bleek deze stempel geschikt. Het viel me in dat je natuurlijk ook best een achtergrond kan maken met de Dogwood. De harten van de bloemen zijn bedekt met enamel accents wit met een beetje glitter erop gestrooid.
The Dogwood is also perfect in black and white. Here I followed Cas-ual Fridays CFC#29. I tought I could use the stamp to make a background. The hearts of the flowers are covered with enamel accents white with a bit of glitter.

Morgen ga ik naar een feestje van een vereniging en ik wilde een setje kaarten geven die gestuurd kan worden naar eventueel zieke leden. Dan hebben ze een paar kaarten achter de hand voor het geval iemand zich ziek afmeldt!

Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger

Vandaag heb ik me laten inspireren door de Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger uitdaging. De kleuren zijn zo, hoe noem je dat? Retro? 60's of 70's? Het doet me ontzettend denken aan dat oranje en bruine behang dat zo modern was in die jaren.
Today I let myself be inspired by the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger challenge. The colors are so ... how do you call that? Retro? Sixties? Seventies? It reminds me of the wallpaper that was so modern in those years.

Ik heb een maskertje gemaakt van een cirkel en de kleuren gebruikt om een wit basis papiertje te kleuren. Her en der een Framed Snowflakes stempel in de cirkels gezet en op de onderrand the Fabulous Flourish. Een paar vlindertjes (met stickles, natuurlijk!) maken het geheel af.
I made a circle mask and used the colors to cover a white base paper. I stamped here and there the Framed Snowflakes in the circles and the Fabulous Flourish at the edge below the ribbon. A few little butterflies (with stickles, off course!) complete the card.

Koe - Cow

Grappige kaart gemaakt gisteren.Ik was aan het spelen met de "splatter" techniek. Een flinke dot paint dabber aanbrengen en met perslucht uitblazen. Het deed me denken aan de vlekken op een koe. Gelukkig had ik nog een koe stempel die er goed bij paste. Voor een beetje kleur heb ik het koetje maar een oranje strikje omgedaan. Met deze kaart wilde ik meedoen met Play Date Cafe kleur uitdaging maar ik ben helaas een dag te laat.
Yesterday I was playing with the "splash" technique. A big dot of paint dabber black on the paper and blown hard with canned air. I made me think of the spots of a cow. Luckily I had a cute cow stamp. For a splash of color I gave her an orange bow. With this card I wanted to playing along with the Play Date Cafe color challenge. Unfortunately I'm a day late.

Nieuwe Stempels - New Stamps

Ik heb mijzelf getrakteerd op een paar nieuwe Hero Arts stempels. Gisteren kreeg ik ze met de post en vandaag heb ik er even mee gespeeld. Nieuwe stempels moet ik altijd even uitproberen. Welke kleuren passen er goed bij, welke technieken zijn ermee mogelijk etc, etc. Als eerste de Dogwood. Is hij niet prachtig? Ik denk dat elke kleur er wel bij past!
I treated myself to some new Hero Arts stamps. Yesterday I got them by mail and today I played with them. I always have to get to know new stamps. What colors to use, what techniques will work with the stamp etc, etc. First off, the Dogwood stamp. Isn't it a beauty? I think all colors will fit this stamp!

Ook heb ik de Fern and Hummingbird stempel en snijmal set gekocht. Er zit nog meer bij dan de twee stempels die je hieronder ziet. Maar het belangrijkste is dat elke stempel een bijpassende snijmal heeft, zodat ze precies uitgesneden kunnen worden met de Cuttlebug. Ik had deze set moeten hebben voor de CAS-ual uitdaging van vorige week!
I also bought the Fern and Hummingbird stamp and die-cut set. There is more than just the two shapes you see on the card below. The most important fact is that every stamp has a matching die-cut. It can be cut out very precisely with the Cuttlebug. I should have had this set for the CAS-ual challenge last week "over the edge"!

En dan nog de Fabulous Flourish. Die past echt overal bij, zo elegant! Ik heb hem geëmbossed met wit+glitter embossing poeder en in het groen. Beide kaartjes geven de flourish een andere betekenis. Ik vind hem prachtig!
Last but not least the Fabulous Flourish. This one fits all occasions, so elegant! I embossed it with white+glitter and green embossing powder. Both cards give the flourish a different meaning. I love it!

Even een fun kaartje tussendoor. Ik heb deze van de week al gemaakt. De Life of the Party Dots stempel van Hero Arts deed me ineens aan iets denken: Life of the Party Lieveheersbeestjes! Met gele discolampen om omheen te dansen. Zie je hoeveel lol ze hebben?
A quick fun card. I made this a few days ago. Life of the Part Dots stamp gave me an idea: Life of the Party Ladybugs. With yellow discolights to dance around. See how much fun they have?!

Eénlaags kaarten - One-layered cards

Ik heb geen uitdaging gedaan vandaag, maar heb me laten inspireren door het maskeren. Geheel of gedeeltelijk afdekken en inkt aanbrengen dus. Blauw en groen gaan, in mijn ogen, nog steeds prachtig samen dus is het niet zo gek dat ik daarmee begonnen ben. Deze kleurcombinatie vraagt gewoon om een boom of planten stempel. Ik heb een prachtige boom van de Darkroom Door set "Trees" gebruikt. Het werd zo een mooi stil geheel dat het als vanzelf een condoleance kaart werd. Een beetje stickles maakt het af.
I did not use a challenge today, but I let myself be inspired by masking. I covered parts of the card and applied ink. Blue and green is still a winning combination in my eyes so I started with those colors. That combination just screams for a tree or plant stamp. I used a tree from the beautiful Darkroom Door stampset "Trees". It became a quiet and peaceful scene and therefor a sympathy card. A little stickles finishes it.

Natuurlijk kan er ook een kerstboom op. De Hero Arts Happy Holiday Trees is net zo mooi. Hier heb ik wel een beetje enamel accents wit op de takken gedaan alsof er sneeuw op ligt.
Off course blue and green combine with christmas trees too. The Happy Holiday Trees set from Hero Arts is just as beautiful. I did use a little enamel accents white on the branches to simulate snow.

Ik had er toen nog geen genoeg van dus begon ik een beetje te experimenteren met de maskers. Het resultaat daarvan zie je hieronder. De Three Ferns stempel is zo ontzettend mooi!
I hadn't finished yet with masking so I experimented with the masks. You can see the results beneath. I do so love the Three Ferns stamp!

Met een éénlaags kaart leg je jezelf wel een beperking op, maar bedenk: je fantasie is onbeperkt! Veel plezier met maskeren!
With a one-layer card you limit yourself, but remember: your fantasty is unlimited! Have fun with masking tape!

Weer twee uitdagingen vandaag. Lily Pad Cards heeft een uitdaging met de drie primaire kleuren en CAS-ual Fridays heeft een uitdaging om "over the edge" te werken. Met het idee van onderstaande kaart liep ik al een poosje rond. En "over the edge" leek een prima gelegenheid om die eens uit te proberen.
Ik heb heel veel takjes geponsd en die zo opgeplakt dat het net een echte dennentak lijkt. Wegens de kleuren uitdaging is de kerstbal geel en rood geworden. En het blauw zit op de achtergrond met de prachtige stunning snowflakes stempel van Hero Arts.
Another two challenges today. Lily Pad Cards has a challenge with the three primairy colors and CAS-ual Fridays challenges us to work "over the edge". I had this idea in my head for awhile now and this seemed the opportunity to try it.
I punched a lot of little branches and glued them together to resemble a pine branch. Because of the color challenge the ornament was made of red and yellow cardstock. The blue is in the background wih the gorgeous stunning snowflakes stamp from Hero Arts.

Hier nog een detail van alle takjes. Het ziet er heel gezellig uit! Ik heb een beetje Frosty Lace stickles aangebracht. Je kent me: zonder stickles is de kaart niet af!

Gaandeweg bleek dat het niet zo'n CAS-ual card zou worden. Het was toch wel erg veel werk. Ik heb hetzelfde nogmaals gedaan maar dan veel rustiger, meer gestileerd.
When the card was nearly finished is wasn't a CAS-card anymore. So I did the same again but more stylised.

Ik heb uiteindelijk de eerste kaart bij Lily Pad Cards aangemeld en de tweede bij CAS-ual Fridays.

Nieuwe uitdagingen - New Challenges!

Het is weekend! Tijd om te craften! Gelukkig zijn er nieuwe uitdagingen op mijn favoriete blogs. Clean and Simple heeft een prachtige schets uitdaging. Ze hebben er een kerst schets van gemaakt maar ik had direkt de fantastische Hydrangea stempel van Hero Arts erbij in gedachten. En een paar maanden geleden heb ik dat ontzettend lieve bijtje van Magenta gekocht die zo prima bij de Hydrangea past!
It's weekend! Time to craft! Thank goodness there are new challenges on my favorite blogs. Clean and Simple has a beautiful sketch challenge. They made it a christmas sketch but the Hydrangea stamp from Hero Arts immediately filled my mind when I saw the challenge. A few months ago I bought that incredible darling bee from Magenta stamps. It suits the Hydrangea perfectly!

De kleuren gingen eigenlijk vanzelf. Dus past deze kaart ook bij de uidaging van The Play Date Cafe met de kleuren grijs, geel en roze.
The colors came to me naturally and I found my card fitting The Play Date Cafe challenge too! They have a color challenge with grey, yellow and pink.

Hier nog een detail foto van het bijtje en de Hydrangea. Ik moest toch weer wat bling aanbrengen op de kaart hoor! Gelukkig geven de bijtjes met hun vleugeltjes een prima gelegenheid om glitter kwijt te kunnen. En natuurlijk kon er ook wel wat op de Hydrangea. Trouwens de blaadjes die lichter zijn heb ik aangestipt met ...bleekwater! Dat bleekt de distress inkt mooi op en dan lijkt het net of het licht geeft.
Here a detail of a bee and the Hydrangea. I just had to reach for my stickles. The bees willingly had their wings blinged and then the Hydrangea wanted some bling too. By the way, I touched the lighter leaves with some chlorine. It bleaches the distress ink and makes it look like it shines with it's inner light.

Bling it up!

Gisteren begon de nieuwe uitdaging bij Hero Arts. Er zijn verschillende regels waar je uit kan kiezen maar de eerste die mij opviel was "bling it up!" Ik kreeg gelijk het idee van een glimmende witte kerstboom. Ik maakte een driehoek en begon met Stickles te smeren. Er zat zoveel op dat het een nacht moest drogen! En, uh oh, is dat een sneeuwstorm op de achtergrond? Dat moet wel want mijn boom is bedekt met sneeuw!
Yesterday the new challenge started at Hero Arts. There are different challenge rules but the one that stood out most was "bling it up!" Immediately I got this idea for a shiny white christmas tree. I made a triangle and started with the stickles. It had to dry overnight! And, oh my, is that a snowstorm in the background? It must be! My tree has snow on it's branches!

Lily Pad Cards challenge

Vandaag heb ik een kaartje gemaakt voor de uitdaging op de Lily Pad Cards blog. De uitdaging is een schets. Die ziet er simpel uit maar is het niet! Kijk maar:
Today I made a card for the Lily Pad Cards blog challenge. The challenge is to follow a sketch. It looks so simple but it's not simple at all! Look:

Ik heb de schets omgedraaid en er een beterschapskaart van gemaakt. De Engraved Fruits set van Hero Arts is zo realistisch dat je zo in zou willen bijten! De achtergrond is gemaakt met alcohol inkt.
I turned the sketch around a made a get well soon card. The Engraved Fruits set from Hero Arts is realistic you would like to eat them! I made the background square with alcohol inks.

De letters komen van een stempel van Tim Holtz. Ik heb ze gekleurd met fired brick en dusty concord distress inkten. De peren zijn gekleurd met crushed olive. De distress inkten hebben zulke prachtige kleuren die allen met elkaar gecombineerd kunnen worden. Vandaag heeft Ranger (en Tim) de kleuren van de Seasonal Distress ink Winter bekend gemaakt. Dus wat ga jij doen? Bestellen, of toch nog even wachten?
The letters are from a Tim Holtz' stamp. I colored them with fired brick and dusty concord distress inks. The pears are colored with crushed olive. Distress ink colors are so beautiful and they all suit each other. Today Ranger (and Tim)anounced the colors of the Seasonal Distress ink Winter. So what do you do? CAS-ual Friday challenge #26

Meestal heb ik geen idee hoe ik een CAS ("clean and simple") kaart moet maken. Ik heb altijd het idee dat er meer op moet. Meer kriebels op de achtergrond, meer bling, meer lintjes/strikjes/knopen etc. Maar deze vrijdag kreeg ik een idee bij de prachtige schets van CAS-ual Friday uitdaging #26. Dus ik waag maar eens een gokje op een goede CAS kaart!
Mostly I have no idea how to do a CAS ("clean and simple") card. I always think it needs more texture on the background, more bling, more ribbons, bows, buttons etc. But this Friday I got an idea, inspired by the great sketch from CAS-ual Friday challenge #26. So I'm taking a chance on creating a good CAS-card!

De witte vlekken op de appel komen van het fotograferen van rock candy stickles. Ik heb de appel ermee ingesmeerd. Er moest toch een beetje bling op!
The white spots are caused by photographing rock candy stickles. I completely covered the apple with it. I just had to add bling to my card!

Ochtend ritueel - Morning ritual

Iedereen heeft een ochtend ritueel. Je wordt wakker, staat op en wat doe je dan? Eet je een uitgebried ontbijt of heb je al genoeg aan een kopje thee? Ik begin elke morgen met een cappucino en een cruesli terwijl ik de e-mail check. ALs ik dat gedaan heb ben ik klaar om de dag aan te kunnen. Maar tijdens dat half uurtje 's morgens moeten ze mij dan ook niet storen! Dan ben ik nog niet goed wakker en aanspreekbaar!
Everyone has a morning ritual. You get up and then? Do you have an extensive breakfast or just a cup of tea? I start every morning with a cappuchino and cereal while I check my e-mail. When I have done that I'm ready to face the day. But I am incmmunicado while I have my morning ritual! Luckily my family knows my morning ritual and they mostly leave me alone that half hour!

Nu je weet wat ik elke morgen doe begrijp je waarom ik deze inspirerende uitdaging van de Play Date Cafe so prachtig vind! Heerlijke zachte pastel kleuren van cappuchino op de tafel. Ik heb het volgende kaartje gemaakt gebaseerd op die kleuren en twee achtergrond stempels van Hero Arts gecombineerd: Magical Background en Classic Fabric.
Now that you know my morning ritual you'll understand why I was inspired by this Play Date Cafe challenge. Lovely soft pastel colors of cappuchino on the table... yumm! My next card is based on these colors. I combined two background stamps from Hero Arts: Magical Background and Classic Fabric.

Hier is een detail van de kaart. Ik heb de sterren uitgesneden met de Cuttlebug, op de embossingpad gedrukt en daarna door embossing poeder gehaald. (witte embossing poeder met een glimmertje)
Here is a detail. I cut out the stars with the Cuttlebug, pressed them on the embossing pad, covered them in embossing powder (white with a sparkle)and embossed them.

knutsel avond - crop evening

Gisteren hebben Christa, Harma en ik een crop avond gehouden waarbij we begonnen met clean and simple kaarten. Dat betekent zo weinig mogelijk elementen gebruiken en vooral veel open ruimte laten. Dat valt nog niet mee!
Yesterday Christa, Harma and me had a cozy crop evening. We started with clean and simple cards. That means using as little as possible and leave lots of open space on the card. Not as easy as it sounds!

Daarna maar even wat anders geprobeerd. Ik heb nog geen genoeg van de Framed Snowflakes van Hero Arts en kan er nog 2 laten zien:

Framed Snowflakes again

Ik hou ervan om een stempel op zoveel mogelijk manieren te gebruiken. De Framed Snowflakes van Hero Arts zijn momenteel mijn favoriet zoals je ziet! Op deze kaart heb ik ze met sternenstaub Eisbau Glitzer embossing poeder geëmbossed en dan nog een keer met clear embossing poeder. Die heb ik daarna ingekleurd met distress inkt stormy sky. Ik denk dat ik deze techniek "inverted embossing" ga noemen!
I love exploring the possibilities of a stamp(set). The Framed Snowflakes from Hero Arts are my favorite at the moment, as you can see! On this card I embossed them with sternenstaub Eisblau Glitzer embossing powder en again with clear embossing powder. Those I colored with distress ink stormy sky. I think I'm going to name this technique "inverted embossing"!

Kerstkaarten - Christmas cards

Voor een poosje terug heb ik de framed snowflakes gekocht. Ik moest er even over denken maar er kan natuurlijk ook een achtergrond mee gemaakt worden. Eerst maar eens in verschillende kleuren blauw distress inkt gedaan. Ik ben tevreden met het resultaat!
A while back I bought the framed snowflakes. I had to think about it but then I got the idea to create a background with them. First I tried different shades of blue distress ink. I love the results!

Toen de kerstkleuren gebruikt. Ook dat geeft een leuk geheel:
Then I used the christmas colors red and green. Works too!

Ooh, dit is zo zielig! Ik had het koetje in de besneeuwde wei geplaatst en met enamel accents een laagje sneeuw op zijn rug gedaan. In eerste instantie moest ik er een beetje om lachen. Maar later liet het me niet los. Welke rechtgeaarde, eerlijke boer laat zijn koe nou in de wei staan op een donkere koude nacht? Dat zou nooit gebeuren!
Oh, this is so sad! I placed the cow in the snowy meadow and mimicked a layer of snow on his back with enamel accents. At first, this scene made me laugh. But later I kept thinking about it. Which honest farmer forgets his cow on a dark and snowy night? That would never happen!

Dus heb de koe maar uit de wei gehaald en er een hert in geplaatst. Die voelt zich veel beter buiten in het donker!
So I removed the cow from the meadow (he's in a warm stable now!) and placed a deer in the snowy fields. This animal feels perfectly at home, frolicking in the snow!

Simple shape christmas card

Dit idee kreeg ik gisteravond vlak voordat ik in slaap viel. Simpel en gemakkelijk. Gewoon een aantal driehoekjes bestempeld en een beetje rode stickles en enamel accents wit. Van deze layout zou ik natuurlijk een hele series kaarten kunnen maken. Met verschillende vormen: kerstballen, sterretjes, kerstmannen etc. Hmm.... idee!

I got this idea last night before I fell asleep. Simple and easy. Just a bunch of triangles, some red stickles and white enamel accents. I could do a whole lot of cards with this layout. With different shapes: balls, bells, stars, santa's etc. Hmm.... idea!

Daar ben ik weer. Ik heb een hele poos niks op mijn blog geplaatst, maar dat wil niet zeggen dat ik niets gedaan heb hoor! De vakantie zat ertussen en wat andere bezigheden dan kaarten maken.
Vandaag heb ik een begin gemaakt met de kerstkaarten. Een leuk simpel kaartje met de prachtige happy holiday trees stempel van Hero Arts. De achtergrond stempel is de mooie holly flourish, ook van Hero Arts.

Here I am again. I did not post on my blog for a long time but I haven't been idle! I did craft during my holiday but I was also busy with some non-craft related events.
Today I made a start with the Christmas cards. A simple card with the beautiful happy holiday trees stamp from Hero Arts. Background was made with holly flourish, also from Hero Arts.

Cling Pops!

Bij Hero Arts hebben ze net een nieuwe naam voor de stempels waar je een stukje uit kan verwisselen. De naam is "Cling Pops" geworden. Gefeliciteerd Amy Cheek!
Nu heb ik laatst de stempel set Luscious Bold Flowers (CG303) met een leuke korting gekocht en ik wilde daar eens een kaarten set mee maken. Omdat die stempelset nog niet helemaal uit het rubber gesneden is kun je daar prima je eigen Cling Pop van maken. Ik heb de omtrek bewaard zoals je kan zien op de foto. En ik heb merkjes gezet om de bloemen makkelijker in elkaar te kunnen puzzelen.

At Hero Arts they picked a new name for the new line of pop-out cling stamps. The name is "Cling Pops", congratulations Amy Cheek for winning that contest!
I bought the Luscious Bold Flowers (CG303) set with a lovely discount and wanted to use that one for a card set. Because the stamps are not completely cut out yet, you can make your own cling pops with that stampset. I saved the edge as you can see on the photo. And I made some marks for easier assembling the flowers.

En als je het in zijn geheel afdrukt krijg je een prachtige verdeling van de bloemen. De bloem die uit puntjes bestaat is ietwat licht dus die heb ik extra afgedrukt en in een bijpassende kleur geëmbossed. Dus ook de techniek van deze maand gebruik ik bij deze kaartenset. Er is voldoende ruimte om veel bling steentjes op de bloemen kwijt te kunnen.

And if you stamp it as a background stamp you get a beautiful spread of flowers. De dots-flower is a little light in comparison to the other three flowers, so I used that one to emboss it in a coordinating color. As you see I'm also using the technique of this month for the cardset. The flowers offer enough room for lots of bling.

Nieuwe stempels - New stamps

Ik heb gisteren even gespeeld met de stempels die ik in Zeist heb gescoord. Het is een simpel kaartje geworden, maar goed, het was ook even uitproberen! Alle stempels zijn van Hero Arts; Luscious Bold Flowers (CG 303) en Daisy Outline Pattern (S5472). Behalve de tekst: "Er is niets dat voorgoed verdwijnt als men de herinnering bewaart". Die vond ik ergens in een achteraf hoekje en ik weet echt niet meer van welke winkel die stand was.

Yesterday I started playing with the new stamps I got in Zeist. The result is a simple card because it's only a try-out! All stamps from Hero Arts; Luscious Bold Flowers (CG 303) and Daisy Outline Pattern (S5472). Except the Dutch sentiment, which translates: "Nothing really disappears if you keep the memory". I found that one somewhere and I can't remember who's stand it was.

Art Specially event Zeist

Gisteren zijn Harma, Christa en ik naar de Art Specially beurs in Zeist geweest. Het was weer een heerlijk dag. Veel zaken hadden een kraam ingericht en het lag weer vol met stempels, inkten en aanverwante artikelen. Ook kon je bij een aantal workshops gewoon aanschuiven. Ik heb nog een heel klein filmpje gemaakt die je HIER kan bekijken.

Yesterday Harma, Christa and me went to the Art Specially event in Zeist. It was a lovely warm day. There were many shops and wonderful booths. Lots of eyecandy! And you could do a lot of make and takes. I made a very small video that you can watch HERE.

Natuurlijk heb ik nog wat moois aangeschaft. Ik heb eindelijk mijn heattool vervangen door een Heat It van Ranger. En dat had ik veel eerder moeten doen! De Heat It maakt VEEL minder lawaai! Geen klachten meer van een televisie kijkende man! Het is een prachtig föhn model en nog een kleintje ook. Echt een schatje!
Verder nog een paar inktkleuren waarmee ik onderstaande kaart heb gemaakt. Daar heb ik ook twee nieuwe Hero Arts stempels bij gebruikt. De Magical Background (CG211) en de Luscious Bold Flowers (CG303). Sentiment is van Whiff of Joy.

Off course I bought some goodies. I finally replaced my old heattool with a Heat It from Ranger. I should have done that a long time ago. This Heat It tool makes A LOT less noise! No more complaints from a television watching husband. It's a beautiful, easy to hold, tool and so small it deserves the name "Cute".
I got some new inks and some stamps which I used to make the card below. The stamps are Magical 'Background (CG211) and Luscious Bold Flowers (CG303) from Hero Arts. Sentiment is from Whiff of Joy.

Oneindige kaart - Never ending card

Dit is een zogenaamde oneindige kaart. Je kan, door de vouwen, de kaart blijven openklappen. Elke keer zie je een nieuwe scene. Het is een behoorlijk tijdrovend project, maar als het eenmaal af is dan heb je ook wat bijzonders in handen! Ik kan me voorstellen dat dit een perfect project is om bijvoorbeeld een bruidspaar te verrassen, of om kersverse ouders een verhaaltje over hun baby te vertellen. Ik hoop dat de foto's duidelijk maken hoe de kaart werkt. Maar mocht je het nog niet begrijpen dan kun je even googlen op "never ending card". Er zijn vele video's gemaakt die precies uitleggen hoe je zoiets maakt. Alle stempels zijn van Hero Arts en ik heb de stempel nummers erbij vermeld.

This is a so-called never ending card. The cards just keeps folding open and showing new scene's. It's quite a time consuming project but if you perservere then you end up with something special! I can image this is the perfect card for a bride and groom or to tell new parents a story about their baby. I took many photo's to show you how the card folds. But if you still don't understand try googling "never ending card". There are a lot of video's out there with explanations on how to do this.
All stamps are Hero Arts and I added the numbers of the stampsets.

Eindelijk Voorjaar! - Spring is here!

Vandaag kan je het goed voelen: het is voorjaar! Buiten is het lekker warm en we hebben de kussens weer in de tuinstoelen gelegd. Heerlijk op het terras koffiedrinken, wat een luxe!
Maar natuurlijk werd ik ook weer geïnspireerd door de Hero Arts blog. Een prachtige kaart van Shari Caroll met een video. In prachtige voorjaarskleuren. Daar moest ik even mee aan de slag!

Today is a good day to experience Spring! It's lovely weather and we took the pillows out to the garden chairs on the terras. It's such a luxury to be able to drink coffee outside!
But I could not sit still because I became inspired by the Hero Arts blog. A few days ago they showed a beautiful card from Shari Caroll with a video. I just had to do something with those gorgeous Spring colors!

Hier en daar heb ik de bloemen geaccentueerd met dimensional pearls stream.
I added some dimensional pearls stream to the flower hearts.

Ik had ook nog een opdracht gekregen. Een felicitatie kaart voor een jubilaresse. Ik heb het geheel licht en vrolijk gehouden en daar passen natuurlijk prima vlinders bij!

I made this card on request. It's a congratulations card for a jubilee. I kept it light and airy. I thought butterflies fit that theme perfectly!

De volgende is de eerste kaart die ik met mijn nieuwe stempels heb gemaakt. Ik zat al lang te wachten tot ik the envelope pattern (S5507) en de drie ferns (S5154) stempel in handen zou krijgen en nu is het dan zover. Hier werk ik ook voor het eerst met Hero Arts Shadow Inkt. Die inkten zijn echt een aanrader! Wat een prachtige egale dekking geeft die inkt! En die zachte kleuren zijn werkelijk FABULEUS!

Next card is the first I made with my new stamps. Ik waited for a long time before I got the envelope pattern (S5507) and the three ferns (S5154) stamp in my hands and now I have them. This is also for the first time I worked with Hero Arts Shadow Ink. Those inks are a real must-have! I gives a beautiful smooth and even coverage. And those soft colors are simply FABULOUS!

De kolibries zijn fel groen en er zit wat stickles op. Kolibries zijn in het echt ook van die vliegende juweeltjes en hier op kaart steken ze mooi af tegen de zachte kleuren van de achtergrond.

Hummingbirds are bright green and I aded some stickles. Hummingbirds are in real life such beautiful flying gems and on this card they have a nice contrast with the soft background.

Peeking Posies (LL072)

Vandaag ben ik eens bezig geweest met één stempelset: Peeking Posies (LL072) van Hero Arts. Een prachtig setje van vier bij elkaar passende bloemetjes in een kader. Je kan ze natuurlijk gewoon stempelen en inkleuren, maar wat kan je er nog meer mee doen?

Today I have experimented with one stampset: Peeking Posies (LL072) from Hero Arts. A beautiful set of four different flowers in frames. Off course you can stamp it and color it, but what else is possible? !

Je kan er bijvoorbeeld ook een achtergrond mee maken! In dit geval koos ik voor adirondack sailboat blue. Dat is een sterke heldere kleur die geen ondersteuning nodig heeft. Ik had nog wat lint met exact dezelfde blauwe kleur. Deze kaart heb ik ook gemaakt voor The Play Date Cafe challenge. Dit is de inspiratie foto:

Well, you could make a background with them. In this case I chose adirondack sailboat blue. That is a strong bright color that doesn't need anything else. I had this ribbon with exactly the same color, lucky me! I also made this card for The Play Date Cafe challenge This is the challenge inspiration:

Op de volgende kaart staat maar één afdruk, geëmbossed in zwart. Dit is een condoleance kaart en de stempel moet dus het gevoel overdragen. Een paar vouwlijnen versterken de afdruk. De regel van drie is hier toegepast. één afdruk, één quote en één embellishment (de druppels).

On this next card I stamped one flower only once and embossed it with black. This is a condolance card so the picture should convey the feeeling. A few scorelines support the stamp. I used the rule of three: one stamp, one quote and one embellishment (the droplets).

En dan nog een CAS kaart (CAS=clean and simpel). Drie afdrukken, geëmbossed met wit en met drie zachte kleuren bewerkt: adirondack juniper, lemonade en aqua. Eronder een stukje wit waarvan alleen de randjes een kleurtje (juniper)hebben. Ik heb de bloemen met een 3d-blokje onder één hoek opgeplakt om iets meer dimensie erin te brengen. Natuurlijk ook de envelop bijpassend gemaakt.

A CAS-card. Three stamps, embossed with white and colored with three soft colors: adirondack juniper, lemonade and aqua. Under that a piece of white cardstock which only had the edges colored (juniper). I put a little 3d-glue under one corner of the flowers to give them a bit more dimension.

Dan nog één kaartje die ik gemaakt heb voor uitdaging 132 van clean&simpel. De schets sprak mij aan en deed me gelijkt denken aan de kleine vlindertjes van de antique engravings set (CL383) van Hero Arts. Papier is van Basic Grey en er zit een beetje copper stickles op de vlinders.

I have one card left to show you. I made this for challenge 132 of clean&simpel. I like the sketch, it made me think of the little butterflies from the antique engravings set (CL383) from Hero Arts. Paper is Basic Grey.

Transparant bewerking - Heating acetate

Ik heb gisteren even iets anders geprobeerd waar ik al een tijdje mee rondliep. Die transparante sheets kan je niet embossen want ze krullen helemaal op- en in elkaar. Maar als je dat nou expres doet? Het resultaat zie je hieronder. Een simpel kaartje, maar het gaat om de bloem.
Ik heb hem gestempeld met StazOn op een transparantje en, aan de andere kant, gekleurd met alcohol inkt. Daarna hééééél voorzichtig met de heattool bewerkt. Het krult in de richting van de warmte dus af en toe moet je hem omdraaien zodat er een mooie golf inkomt. Probeer maar eens!

Yesterday I tried something completely different, I had been thinking about this for awhile. You can't emboss acetate because it curls and warps till there is nothing left. But what if you did that on purpose? You can see the results below. A simple card but I wanted to show the flower to you. I stamped it with StazOn on acetate and colored, on the other side, with alcohol inks. Then I used my heattool on it, véééééry carefully. The acetate curls towards the heat, so you have to turn the flower to achieve that wavy look. You should try it sometime!

Geleende stempels - Borrowed stamps

Ik heb wat Hero Arts stempels geleend van Christa. Dit zijn de "peeking posies". Omdat er een kader omheenzit is het heel makkelijk om ze uit te snijden. De bloemen zijn opgevuld met stukjes dessin papier.

I borrowed some Hero Arts stamps from Christa. These are the "peeking posies". Because they are drawn in a frame it's easy to cut them out. I papierpieced the flowers with basic grey paper.
Een prachtige tekst stempel. De vlinders zijn gestempeld met adirondack cool peri: een lichte paarse kleur. De twee grote vlinders zijn geëmbossed en gekleurd ook met cool peri. Ik heb er een beetje rock candy stickles op gesmeerd voor een subtiele glinstering.

A beautiful text stamp. The butterflies are stamped with adirondack cool peri: a light purple color. The big butterflies were embossed and colored with cool peri. I put a little rock candy on them for a subtle shine.

Op stempelvisite bij Christa

Ik ben vanmiddag even bij Christa geweest. Er moest even gestempeld worden! Hier een snelle one-layer (één-laags) kaart. Met masker papier de strepen afgeplakt. Al het geel gesponsd en gestempeld met adirondack sunshine yellow. Aan de binnenkant wordt de zin afgemaakt: ...you're special, happy birthday!

This afternoon I went over to Christa, we had to stamp something! This is a quick one-layer card. I masked big stripes and sponged and stamped with adirondack sunshine yellow. On the inside the sentiment continues: ...you're special, happy birthday!
En we hebben allebei een kaart gemaakt weer volgens Shari's techniek video. Het gaat steeds makkelijker. Maar soms lopen de kleuren nog wat teveel door elkaar en wordt het een modderig groen/bruine kleur! Er was nog veel inkt op de craftsheet achtergebleven. Die heb ik maar gebruikt om de achtergrond te maken.

And we both made a card according to Shari's technique video. It gets easier every time. But sometimes the colors get too mixed up and results in a muddy green color! I used the surplus ink on my craftsheet to make the background.

CASE cards

Twee kaarten vandaag. het zijn CASE kaarten. CASE betekent Copy and Selectively Edit, dus een kaart van iemand anders namaken waarbij je het orgineel ook laat zien. Als eerste een kaart van Barb Dengler die ze gemaakt heeft naar aanleiding van een video van Sue. Het is zo leuk om weer even herinnerd te worden aan een techniek die je al een poos niet gebruikt hebt.

Two cards today. These are CASE cards. CASE means Copy and Seletively Edit. It means you copy a card from someone and give credit where credit is due. The first I cased from Barb Dengler. Barb made this after she watched a video from Sue. It is so much fun to be reminded of something you did a long time ago.
Als tweede een kaart naar aanleiding van de techniek video op de Hero Arts blog. Ik heb het wel twintig keer geprobeerd voordat het me eindelijk lukte. Het valt niet mee om een mooie verdeling van de inkt te krijgen met een acryl blok! En inkt opnemen van je craftsheet op een stempel is al helemaal lastig omdat je geen controle meer hebt over waar de kleuren op je stempel terecht komen. En omdat het een aquarel techniek is moet je ook nog een juiste papiersoort kiezen. Al met al kostte het mij wat moeite voordat ik tevreden was!

Secondly, a card in reference to a technique video on the Hero Arts blog. I tried almost twenty times before I had an acceptable result. It's hard to get good coverage with ink on an acylic block! And the wriggle technique Shari demonstrates is difficult because you lose all control over the colors on your stamp. And thirdly you have to choose the right paper because this is an aquarel technique. All this together gave me quite some trouble before I was satisfied!

Art Journey challenge #7

De challenge deze maand van Art Journey vraagt om het gebruik van iets ongewoons. Rietjes, een schoen, belletjes, iets uit de keuken, noem maar op. Ik moest gelijk aan een wattenscijfje denken. Als ik die nou eens als masker gebruik en daarna als stempel, dan krijg je mooie ronde vormen, nietwaar?

The challenge this month from Art Journey requested something unusual. Straws, shoes, bells, something from the kitchen, you name it. My thoughts went to cotton pads. If I could use them as masks and then as stamps, I would get some nice rounded shapes, right?
En het werkt! Ik heb de lichtste ronde vormen extra geaccentueerd met colorbox frost white, Sija-stijl! Hier een detail foto van de prachtige glimmer op de kaart. Dat krijg je als je distress ink met perfect pearls en water mengt in een minimister. Gelukkig scheen de zon want zonder zon is dit heel moeilijk op foto vast te leggen!

The lightest shapes are accented with colorbox frost white, Sija-stijl! Here a detail photo of the beautiful shimmer on the card. It comes from mixing distress ink, perfect pearls and water in a minimister. Luckily the sun is shining today because without sun it's very difficult to capture that shimmer on a photo.

Hero Arts 50.000 uploads!

Dit weekend was een zeer spannend weekend op de Hero Arts Flickr groep. Het aantal uploads kwam heel dicht bij de 50.000! Omdat ze dat moment graag vast wilden leggen hadden ze iedereen gevraagd om op te letten en een screenshot te maken van HET moment. Nou, dat was net iets voor mij! Ik heb anderhalf uur in hinderlaag gelegen met twee kaartjes klaar om te uploaden, steeds de pagina vernieuwd en toen had ik 'm! Ontzettend spannend omdat het nummer wel heel snel omhoog ging op het laatst.

This weekend was a very exciting weekend on the Hero Arts Flickr group. The number of uploads came very close to 50.000! Because Hero Arts really wanted to capture that moment, they had asked everyone to grab a screenshot if and when we saw it. That was something for me! I waited in ambush with two cards ready to upload, refreshing the page every now and then and suddenly I got it! Very stressful because the tally went incredibly fast in the end.
Als bedankje kreeg ik later een download van een digikit aangeboden die ik natuurlijk gelijk even uitgeprobeerd heb. Het is heel iets anders om met photoshop de elementen tot een kaartje samen te voegen. Deze kado kaartjes zijn het eerste resultaat.

As a thank you I got a downloadable digikit. Off course I tried to do something with it. It's something completely different to play with digital elements and assemble them into a whole. These gift cards are the first results.
Maar je kan digitaal ook combineren met handgemaakt. Hier heb ik het plaatje van de cupcake drie keer heel klein afgedrukt. Ingekleurd met potlood en een kaartje gemaakt.

But you can combine digital with handmade too. Here I printed the cupcake three times, very small. I colored them with soft pencils and made the card.

Tryout new colors and techniques

Vandaag kan ik een aantal kaarten laten zien die ik heb gemaakt naar aanleiding van de workshops op de Art Journey dag. Eerst een vlinder: gedaan door een goud-geïnkte stempel in een warme laag UTEE te stempelen.

Today I got some cards to share with you. I made these the day after the Art Journey workshops. First a butterfly: Done with UTEE and pressing a gold-inked stamp in the hot liquid UTEE.
Dan twee kaarten om nieuwe kleuren uit te proberen. Als eerste adirondack cool peri. De tekst is met paarse embossing poeder gedaan. Een prachtige kleur! De achtergrond stempel is van Hero Arts: scattered dots. Het ruitje is van Darkroom Door.

And now two cards where I tried to get a feel for the new colors I bought. First one is done with adirondack cool peri. Wonderful color! Background stamp is Scattered Dots from Hero Arts. The plaid stamp is from Darkroom Door.
Hier een detail. Het hartje van de bloem is een klein wit zelfklevend bloemetje.

En hier een (voor mij) nieuwe kleuren combinatie sandal, hazelnut en espresso. Een prachtige bruine serie van adirondack.

Art Journey dagen 2011

Gisteren zijn wij (op de foto: ik, Christa en Harma) weer naar Art Journey in Sleen geweest voor de Art Journey dagen. Zoals gewend was het weer super gezellig en goed georganiseerd!
Yesterday we (on photo: me, Christa and Harma) went to Art Journey for 4 workshops. As usual it was a super organization and loads of fun!
Liesbeth heeft het er maar druk mee om uit te leggen wat de bedoeling is.

Het eindresultaat na 4 workshops. Een leuk doosje met een zig-zag boekje waar de verschillende techniek projecten op geplakt konden worden. De beschrijving zit op de achterkant.
The endresult. A cute little box and a booklet with all the projects on it. The explantion for each project is glued to the backside.
De hele winkel (zo ongeveer) was overgebracht naar de workshop locatie zodat er flink gewinkeld kon worden tussen de workshops door.
Almost the complete inventory of the shop was moved to the workshop location. So we workshoppers could browse to our hearts content!

Alle prachtige voorbeeld borden. Fantastische inspiratie om thuis weer mee aan de slag te kunnen. Want wie kent niet dat gevoel: een prachtige stempel gekocht en thuis weet je niet precies wat je ermee moet doen? Daarom dus heel veel voorbeelden in de winkel!
All the fantastic examples displays. Great inspiration to take home. Who of us doesn't know the feeling of comming home with a beautiful stamp and at a loss of what to with it? That's what these displays are for!

Al met al een heerlijke dag. Weer veel bekende mensen begroet en van een heerlijke lunch genoten. De locatie was lekker ruim opgezet en er was voldoende tijd voor alle workshops. Oude en nieuwe technieken geoefend en een prachtig eindresultaat mee naar huis genomen. En natuurlijk lekker gewinkeld. Nieuwe kleuren inkt aangeschaft, nieuwe stempels en andere hebbedingetjes. Dank Louise en haar team voor weer een geslaagde Art Journey dag!

It was a lovely day. I met a lot of familiar people and enjoyed a yummie lunch. The location had enough space so everyone had room to shop. We practiced old and new techniques and got a wonderful endresult. I bought some new colors ink and embossing powders. The HA stamp is beautiful and I found some other bits and pieces to experiment with. Thank you Louise and your team for another succesful Art Journey day!

Art Journey challenge

De Art Journey uitdaging van februari is dat we een hartvormige kaart moesten proberen. Ik moest gelijk aan het geweven hartvormige zakje denken. Dat had ik nog niet gedaan maar dit was de gelegenheid. Anderhalf uur stug proberen en een video uitleg op youtube verder, is het dan toch gelukt! De bloemen heb ik gemaakt met een papier transfer op sticky-back canvas. Ook dat was voor mij de eerste keer. Al met al een hoop geleerd met dit project!

For the Art Journey challenge februari we had to do a hart shaped card. This woven hart popped into my mind. I wanted to try this but never found the right occasion for it. One and a half hour later, with perseverance and a youtube video tutorial, I finally succeeded! Also the flowers were done with a, for me, new technique: paper transfer on sticky-back canvas. I learned a lot with this project!

90 min.scramble Hero Arts

De uitdaging: in 90 minuten een kaart maken met 2 of meer vouwen erin. Ik was net op tijd klaar met nog 3 minuten op de klok! Dit is zo een geweldige stempel. De Classic Fabric (CG245 Hero Arts)Ik ben aan het sparen voor de envelope pattern stempel. Die lijkt me ook zo geweldig! Heb er al een paar fantastisch kaarten gezien die ermee gemaakt zijn!

The challenge: You have 90 minutes to make a card with 2 or more folds in it. I made it with just 3 minutes to spare! This such a wonderful stamp, the Classic Fabric (CG245 Hero Arts) I'm saving up for the envelope pattern stamp. I have seen a few wonderful cards made with that one!

Hero Arts heeft een prachtige uitdaging deze maand. Ik ben al een paar dagen met de "kissing" techniek aan het spelen en wilde de eerste resultaten met julie delen.

Hero Arts is hosting a beautiful challenge this month. I have been playing with the "kissing" technique for a couple of days and I wanted to share the first results of my efforts.
HA stamps: Large Flower Pattern, Silhouette Fern. Distress inks: victorian velvet, dusty concord. Adirondack inks: lemon, sunshine yellow and butterscotch.
HA stamps: Leaf Clusters, Diagonal Dictionary. Distress inks: crushed olive, chipped sapphire.
Both cards made with the same two stamps and colors. HA stamps: Flower Outline Leaf Pattern and Reverse Leaf Pattern. Distress inks: fired brick and crushed olive.
En dit is even een snel "tussendoor" kaartje. Lace Background en Woodgrain stempels. vlinder-ponsje, een lintje en een beetje Stickles.

A quick "in-between" card. Lace background and Woodgrain stamps. butterfly punch, ribbon and a little bit of Stickles.

CCC januari 2011

In januari heb ik voor de eerste keer meegedaan aan de Card Chain Challenge. Waarom? Omdat het zo ontzettend leuk is om eens een kaart te krijgen nadat je een kaart verstuurd hebt. Omdat de deelnemers allemaal creatieve personen zijn weet je dat jouw moeite gewaardeerd wordt! Dus ergens in Amerika staat nu een poosje een kaart van mij op de kast te pronken! Net zoals Greta weet dat haar kaart bij mij op de kast staat. Zodat ik er lekker lang van kan genieten! Dank je Greta!

This januari I participated at the Card Chain Callenge. Why? Because it's so much fun to receive a card after you made a card. Because all the participants are creative persons and you just know your efforts are appreciated! I know now that somewhere in America, a card made by me is displayed just as Greta know her card is displayed at my house! Thank you Greta!

Staartmezen (Long-tailed Tits)

Het heeft even niets met kaartjes maken te doen, maar toch wilde ik jullie deze "pingpongbal-met-staart" vogeltjes niet onthouden. Het zijn staartmezen. Vooral buiten het broedseizoen zeer sociale dieren. Ze wachten zelfs op elkaar als er eentje achterblijft. Dat wist je niet hè! Foto genomen door het raam van onze zitkamer.

It's got nothing to do with card making but I wanted to share these "pingpong-ball-with-tail" birds with you. These are Long-tailed Tits. They are incredibly social even to the point of waiting for each other when one stays behind! I bet you didn't know that! Picture taken through the glass of our living room.

Scraps of paper give away

Gisteren toen ik aan het winkelen was vond ik twee laden die, hoopte ik, wel op mijn bureau zouden passen. En wat denk je? Ze zijn perfect!

Yesterday I was shopping here in my town and I found two drawers that, I hoped, would fit on my desk. Suprise, suprise, they fitted perfectly!
Het was gelijk de aanleiding om mijn kamer eens grondig op te ruimen. Ik wist niet meer dat ik zo'n GROOT bureau had!

And the drawers sent me into a cleaning frenzy! I did not remember my desk being so BIG!
Terwijl ik aan het opruimen was kwam ik mijn restpapier mandje tegen. Daar gooi ik alle kleine stukjes papier in die over zijn "omdat ik ze misschien nog eens kan gebruiken."

While I was cleaning I found my scrap basket. I throw the little scraps of paper in there because "I can, maybe, probably, use it sometime."
Dat was de aanleiding om een paar kaarten te maken met de restjes papier. Met de Tattered Florals and de Tattered Leaves snijmal van Tim Holtz heb ik wat bloemen en blaadjes uitgestansd en daar zijn deze kaarten mee gemaakt. Enkel de kaart zelf is een nieuw stuk papier. Niet slecht hmm?

That challenged me to make some cards using just pieces from the scrap basket. With the Tatered Florals and Tattered Leaves die I cut some flowers and leaves and assembled these cards. Only the card itself is a new piece of paper. Not bad, hmm?

Maar wat ik ook tegenkwam waren een paar zeer zielige papierboekjes. Ik heb ze niet of nauwelijks gebruikt. En deze boekjes zoeken een nieuw thuis! Dus mocht je op de foto hieronder nu een boekje zien die je graag zou willen adopteren, laat me dat dan weten in een comment (zet dan je e-mail erbij als volgt: xxx at xxx punt xxx en het nummer van het boekje die je graag zou willen hebben!) Of stuur me een e-mail (lindavanvliet at home punt nl) Dan neem ik contact met je op voor je postadres. Ik zou het erg leuk vinden om een kaart terug te ontvangen. Misschien een kaart die je gemaakt hebt met dit papier?
UPDATE: Het is klaar. Alle blokken hebben een nieuw thuis gevonden!

But I also found these poor, poor paper blocks. I have used almost nothing from these papers. And these paper blocks are looking for a new home! Beterschap

De laatste twee kaarten dit weekend. Nu heb ik echt even genoeg in mijn studio gezeten! Maar ik had helemaal geen beterschaps kaarten meer dus daar moest nog iets aan gebeuren.
Eerst een lekker zonnige kaart. Als je je niet zo lekker voelt dan kan je wel wat vrolijks gebruiken. Met Adirondack sunshine yellow Stripes Pattern (kruiselings in combinatie met Lemonade en Butterscotch) en Lace Background van Hero Arts gestempeld. Een plaatje van Crafty individuals en een lintje toegevoegd.

The last two cards this weekend. I really have done enough crafting for now! I didn't have any get well soon cards anymore so I had to make a couple of those.
First a sunny card. If you're not feeling well you can always use a bit of happy sunshine. I stamped with Adirondack sunshine yellow the Stripes Pattern (crosswise with Lemonade and Butterscotch) and the Lace Background stamp from Hero Arts. I added a picture from Crafty Individuals and a ribbon.
En dan de details, die maken een kaart af. Druppels met de transparante gel pen gemaakt. Prachtig als je ze in het zonlicht bekijkt! Ze zijn iets geel omdat de gel de kleur van de inkt opneemt.

And the details finish a card. Droplets transparant gel are beautiful when the sun lights them up. They are a bit yellow because the gel takes on the color of the ink.
De tweede kaart is voor de Art Journey embossing challenge. De stempels zijn van de Pear en de Butterfly wishes set van Art Journey. De peer is wit geëmbossed en de kriebels op de zijkanten zijn gestempeld met Dusty Concord en transparant geëmbossed. Het woord Beterschap is zwart geëmbossed op vellum.

The second card is for the Art Journey embossing challenge. The stamps come from the Pear and the Butterfly Wishes set from Art Journey. The pear is white embossed and the flourishes on the side are stamped with dusty concord and transparant embossed. The word is embossed in black on a strip of vellum.
Natuurlijk moest ik ook nog even "iets doen" met de envelop. Het bloem stempeltje paste prima op de rand.
Dit was een heerlijk creatief weekend Ik hoop dat jullie ook een mooi weekend gehad hebben en ik wens jullie een goede week toe!

Off course I had to do "something" with the envelop. The flower stamp fitted just fine on the border.

Inspiration is here

Heb jij dat ook wel? Dat de ene na de andere kaart moeiteloos uit je handen komt? Dat gevoel heb ik momenteel. Gisteravond nog twee kaarten gemaakt die ik vandaag met jullie wil delen.
De eerste is een kaart met schaduw stempel techniek. Een simpele techniek met een prachtig resultaat. Ik heb de Leaf Clusters stempel twee keer afgedrukt met een lichte en een donkere kleur.

Do you have that inspiration every once in a while? It almost seems effortless to do one card after another. I have that feeling at the moment. Yesterday I made two more cards I want to share with you today.
The first is a card with shadow stamping. A simple technique with wonderful results. I stamped the Leaf Clusters twice with a light and a dark color.
De binnenkant is afgewerkt met een Classic Fabric geëmbosste rand. Een lintje met een strikje erin maken het af. Het strikje heb ik erin gemaakt met een vork.

The inside has an embossed border Classic Fabric. I covered the edge with a ribbon in which I tied a little bow with a fork.
De tweede kaart heeft een meer natuurlijke uitstraling. De Designer Woodgrain stempel gestempeld met peeled paint en gesponsd met bundled sage. De Silhouette Ivy is met dezelfde kleuren gestempeld. De knoop komt uit een voorraad die ik van vrienden gekregen heb en het sleuteltje vond ik in mijn rommeldoos.

The second card has a more natural feel to it. The Designer Woodgrain was stamped with peeled paint and sponged with bundled sage. The Silhouette Ivy stamp was stamped twice with the same colors. The button comes from a stash I got from friends and the key I found in my clutterbox.
Ik denk dat mij inspiratie nog aanwezig is dus hou mijn blog in de gaten voor meer kaarten!

I think my muze is still hanging around in the house, so keep an eye on my blog for more cards!

Special card for a special man

Vandaag wil ik een aanatal kaarten laten zien. Allereerst een tweeling set kaarten in rood en wit. Links de Large Flower Pattern transparant geëmbossed op wit papier en daarna met Fired Brick ingekleurd. "Gefeliciteerd" is in wit geëmbossed. Rechts de Large Flower Pattern afgedrukt met Fired Brick en transparant geëmbossed.

Today I want to share three cards. The first is a twin set of cards in red and white. On the left the Large Flower Pattern stamp transparant embossed on white paper and colored with distress ink Fired Brick. The word is embossed with white powder. On the right the Large Flower Pattern stamped with Fired Brick and embossed transparant.
Op deze kaart heb ik de Lace Background stempel afgedruk met de Big&Juicy pad "Waterfall". In vier vierkantjes gesneden en met een lintje en een paar bloemetjes opgeplakt. Een paar glimmertjes maken het af.

On this card I stamped the Lace Background stamp with Big&Juicy pad "Waterfall" and cut it into four squares. I finfished the card with a piece of ribbon, a few flowers and some shinies.
De laatste kaart van vandaag is voor een heel bijzondere man die momenteel vecht tegen kanker. Mike werkt bij Hero Arts en er is ons liefhebbers van HA gevraagd om kaarten te sturen naar Mike. Ik wilde hem bloemen sturen maar niet te schattig. Op de bloem zit een laag rock candy crackle paint. Met Frayed Burlap heb ik de cracks geaccentueerd.

The last card today is for a very special man named Mike. He works for the Hero Arts company and fights a battle against cancer. Someone on the Hero Arts flickr group asked us HA fans to sent Mike some cards. I wanted to sent flowers but not cute flowers. I painted some rock candy crackle paint on the flower square and accented the crackes with distress ink Frayed Burlap.
De onderlaag is een afdruk met de Classic Fabric stempel en Broken China. Voor de bovenkant heb ik een flourish masker gesprayed met distress inkt (Bundled Sage en Perfect Pearls goud) uit de minimister. De witte vlakken opgevuld met Broken China. Daarna heel licht de Leaf Clusters eroverheen gestempeld. Met de ruwe kant van een sponsje wat spetters Paint Dabber snowcap aangebracht en direkt UTEE erop gesmolten, direkt daarna nog een laag UTEE. Dan krijg je een soort druppels.

The lower section was made with the Classic Fabric stamp and Broken China. The top section was made with a flourish mask and distress ink Bundled Sage mixed with Perfect Pearls gold in a minister. I stamped the Leaf Clusters stamp very lightly over it. I colored the white spots with Broken China. After that I added Paint Dabber snowcap with a sponge and immediately added UTEE. After melting that I added another layer of UTEE. The result is a scattering of droplets.
Aan de binnenkant twee mooie tekst stempels. Hier voeg ik straks een persoonlijk bericht aan toe.

On the inside are some lovely text stamps and I will add a personal message later.
Dat was het voor vandaag. Ik heb nog wat meer ideeën en er zal dus nog wel een kaartje bijkomen maar dat post ik morgen pas.

Vandaag ben ik bij Christa geweest om te zien hoe ze voor het eerst met haar nieuwe melting pot aan de slag gaat. Gelukkig maar dat ik mijn video camera bij me had! Ik heb nog steeds buikpijn van het lachen ...

New Year, New Projects.

Gelukkig nieuwjaar bloggers! Ik weet het, het jaar is al weer een paar dagen onderweg maar dit is mijn eerste blogpost dit jaar en ik wilde iedereen een gelukkig en creatief 2011 wensen!
Ik ben dit jaar begonnen met het vergeten van een project. Ik had me opgegeven voor de Card Chain Challenge januari 2011. Natuurlijk had ik dat helemaal vergeten totdat ik een e-mail kreeg van Deborah dat ik mee mocht doen. En een beetje snel, geen excuses! Dus ben ik m'n studio ingedoken voor het eerste kaartje van 2011.

Happy New Year bloggers! I know, the year already started but since this my first blogpost this year I just have to wish everyone a happy, creative 2011!
I kicked of this year with forgetting about a project. I signed up for a Card Chain Callenge januari 2011 and promptly forgot about it until I got the e-mail from Deborah telling me I could play along. And really fast please, no buts allowed! Hehe, nothing like a deadline to get my creative muse going. So I withdrew to my studio and started on the first card of this year.
Voor deze kaart heb ik wat oude vrienden uit de kast gehaald. De Tri-Fold kaart is een prachtige layout die erg weinig nodig heeft om een mooi resultaat te geven. Ik hou van dit soort kaarten!

For this card I pulled some old friends out of the idea box. The Tri-Fold card is a great one to stand on it's own in all it's splendor. Don't you just love these folding cards?
Deze schattige kleine knopen liggen al eeuwen in mijn rommeldoos en nou weet ik waarom. Ze passen prachtig bij het Basic Grey papier. De bloemen koop ik altijd in wit. Als je gekleurde koopt lijkt de kleur nooit helemaal goed bij je project te passen. Witte bloemen kun je zelf kleuren met inkt en passen er dus altijd bij. Het hartje is een houten rondje die ik geëmbossed heb met embossing poeder goud. De reflectie is een beetje wit enamel accents. Een beetje Stickles op de bloemblaadjes maken het af.

These cute little buttons have lived in my clutterbox for ages and now I know why I saved them. They go perfectly with the colors of the Basic Grey paper. Those flowers I have in abundance and all white ones. When you buy colored ones it never seems to be the perfect color to go with your project. I buy white ones and color them with ink, works better for me! The hearts of the flowers are little round wooden dots. I embossed them with embossing powder gold and the reflection is a little white enamel accents. A dab of Stickles finishes the card. Tri-Fold cards don't need all that much embellishments because of the intricate folds.
De woorden zijn op een stukje vellum gestempeld. Het vellum is bewerkt zoals Tim Holtz ons geleerd heeft op één van zijn tags.

The words were stamped on a piece of vellum. I altered the vellum according to a technique Tim Holtz taught us with one of his tags.

Groot Minimisterblok!

Kijk eens wat mijn vader voor mij gemaakt heeft!!! Is het geen droom? Ik had al een klein blokje maar die was natuurlijk al heel snel vol. Dus heeft hij een nieuw blok voor mij gemaakt met 32 gaatjes. Nou kan ik even vooruit! Volgende keer als ik de minimisters tegenkom bij de hobbyzaak haal ik er een paar bij. Dan kan ik lekker alle combinaties inkt en perfect pearls maken die ik wil. Bedankt vader!!! (hij is 81 jaar en mijn held!)

Look what my father made for me!!! Isn't it a dream? He made a little block for me some time ago but that soon proved to be too small. So he made a new one with 32 places. Now we're talking! Next time I'm at the local LSS I'll get more minimisters. Then I can make all the combinations ink and perfect pearls I want. Thank you daddy! (bts, he is 81 years old and my hero!)
En dan nu nog twee kaarten die ik met de nieuwe stempels gemaakt heb. Ik had bij de Classic Fabric design stempel (CG245) gelijk een zwart-wit kaart voor ogen. Dus dat moest gister nog even uitgeprobeerd worden.

En met de Diagonal Dictonary stempel ( S5497) wilde ik een ideetje uitproberen die ik op de Hero Arts flickr blog had gezien. Geïnspireerd door een kaart van Anette Hjerpaasen.

Met de glossy gel transparant heb ik her en der wat druppels aangebracht voor een interessante glimmer op de kaart.

Hero Arts debut party

Vandaag zijn Christa en ik naar Art Journey geweest. Het was erg koud, maar het sneeuwde niet meer en de wereld was prachtig wit. Ik heb Christa maar even op de foto gezet met het mooie winterweer. Art Journey had een Hero Arts debuut party georganiseerd met allemaal nieuwe stempels uit de nieuwe catalogus voor 2011. Geweldig om al die prachtige stempels zo bij elkaar te zien. Er waren er bij die heel snel in de boodschappen mandjes verdwenen!

Today, Christa and I went to Art Journey. It was very cold but it didn't snow again. The world was beautiful, all pristine and white. I made Christa stand still for a photo of the gorgeous winter bushes. Art Journey was organizing a Hero Art debut party with all new stmaps from the 2011 catalogus. It was wonderful and exhilarating to see all those beautiful stamps displayed! Some of them were sold out real quick!
Ik heb drie stempels gekocht: Large Flower Pattern (S5471), Diagonal Dictonary Type (S5497) en de cling stempel Classic Fabric Design (CG245). Stuk voor stuk prachtige achtergrond stempels. Een aanwinst voor mijn collectie!

I managed to lay my hands on the Lage Flower Pattern (S5471) , the clingstamp Classic Fabric Design (CG245) and Diagonal Dictonary Type (S5497). All wonderful background stamps. A good addition for my collection!

En dan zijn we ineens bij de laatste tag aangeland. Wat is de tijd snel gegaan. Elke dag een prachtige tag te bewonderen op Tim Holtz' blog. Er zijn een heleboel mensen blij gemaakt met prachtige prijzen. Gefeliciteerd aan alle prijswinnaars en zij die nog gaan winnen. Morgen worden de laatste winnaars bekend gemaakt. Vergeet dus niet te kijken als je ook een commentaar op zijn blog hebt gezet!

And suddenly it is all over. The last tag today on Tim Holtz' blog. My goodness, how time flies when you're having fun! Only 12 days left before Christmas! Al lot of people were very lucky to win a beautiful prize. Congratulations to everyone who won! But it's not quite over yet because tomorrow the last prize winners will be know. So don't forget to go to Tims blog if you placed a comment!
Vandaag legt Tim van alles uit over movers en shapers. Ga gauw zijn blogpost lezen als je er alles over wilt weten. En je kan de meester aan het werk zien op een paar video's! Ik moest mezelf tevreden stellen met het ponsen van een inchie cirkel en een op het oog uitgeknipt ornament. Dat had je niet gedacht hè! Ik heb die ornament snijmal niet dus moest ik het zelf uittekenen en knippen. Aardig gelukt nietwaar?
Als je goed naar het achtergrond papier kijkt zie je dat het geen kerstpapier is. Maar ik heb het kerstpapier gemaakt door er een antal keren kerstwoorden (Art Journey stempel) op te stempelen.

Today Tim explained everything about movers and shapers. Take a look at his blogpost if you want to know all about it. And watch some video's of the master at work! I had to make do with punching an inch circle out of the self made ornament. That's right, I don't have the ornament die so I cut it out by hand. Pretty neat huh?
If you look very carefully you can see that the background paper is not a Christams paper but I made it one by stamping christmas words (Art Journey stamp) on it repeatedly.
Rock candy distress paint heb ik wel. En het geeft een prachtig craquelé effect. Het rondje met de 25 heb ik ingesmeerd met Ice stickles.
Dat was het dan lieve bloggers, lezers, mede-creatievelingen! Volgende week zal ik nog een blogpost plaatsen met al mijn doosjes bij elkaar. Dan zet ik er ook de links bij naar alle tags van Tim Holtz. Maar als ik jullie niet meer spreek dan wens ik iedereen alvast een heel fijne kerst toe en een gelukkig nieuwjaar!

De één na laatste tag. Morgen nog eentje en dan is het weer voorbij voor een heel jaar. laten we hopen dat Tim Holtz volgend jaar weer zijn 12 tags of christmas doet.
Vandaag heeft Tim een stempel gemaakt van een snijmal. Daar kon ik niet aan meedoen, die snijmallen heb ik niet. Ik heb flink wat aanpassingen gedaan. Voor de achtergrond heb ik de tekst gestempeld met walnut stain want ik vond mijn eerste poging met krantenpapier op de tag niet mooi. Daarna sneeuwvlokken (Art Journey) en de bomen (Tim Holtz) gestempeld en die geëmbossed met clear embossing poeder. Toen met de inkblending tool de kleuren stormy sky en dusty concord aangebracht.

Tag #11. Tomorrow is the last tag and then we have to wait and hope that Tim Holtz will prolong his 12 tags of christmas next year.
Today Tim made a stamp from one of his dies. I can't join in that project because I don't have those dies. I made something different. I just stamped snowflakes and the trees and embossed them with clear powder. The text was stamped with walnut stain because I didn't like my first attempted with newspaper on the tag. With the inkblending tool I blended stormy sky and dusty concord on my tag.
Het boompje met een snijmalletje gestanst en bestempeld met een stempel van Art Journey. Met stickles X-mas red ballen in de boom gehangen. De engel en het ronde zegel zijn ook een stempels van een Art Journey sheet.

The tree was cut out with a die and stamped with a tree stamp from Art Journey. With stickles X-mas Red I put ornaments in the tree. The angel and the seal are also stamps from an Art Journey sheet.
Soms moet je je creativiteit de vrije loop laten in plaats van de stappen van een ander te volgen. De layout van vandaag was mijn leidraad maar voor de rest heb ik gebruikt wat er voor handen was in mijn voorraad.

Sometimes you just have to go where your imagination leads you instead of letting someone guided you step by step. The layout of today was my lead but for the rest: I tried to use what I have in my stash.

Hergebruiken! Al die verpakkingen niet weggooien maar opnieuw gebruiken. Je kan er prachtige dingen mee doen. Embossen, kleuren met alcohol inkt, noem maar op. Tim Holtz hergebruikt vandaag de transparante verpakking en heeft nog meer tips!
Op zijn 10e tag plaatst Tim een sneeuwman achter een embossed transparante sheet. Ga maar gauw lezen en kijken!

Recylcing! Dont throw away all those old wrappings but use them in your creations. You can do wonderful things with it. Tim Holtz recycles a transparant sheet today and he has more tips!

Ik moest iets anders gebruiken dan de sneeuwman en besloot het vogeltje in een besneeuwd bos te plaatsen. Arme vogel! Zie je hoe hij langzaam bedekt wordt met een laagje sneeuw? En zijn nest (stukje van een netje van de mandarijnen! Hergebruik!) is helemaal ondergesneeuwd! Maar toch heeft hij nog een mooie kerstwens voor ons: "Wishing you all the wonder, joy and peace the season brings"

I had to use something else than the snowman and decided to place the bird in a snowy forest. See how the snow stays on his feathers? And his poor nest (a piece of netting from the oranges! another recyled item!) is being covered in snow! Still he has a nice christmas wish for us: "wishing you all the wonder, joy and peace the season brings"

De negende tag alweer. Nog maar drie te gaan en dan is het alweer voorbij. De tijd vliegt als je plezier hebt! Vandaag een tag in aarde kleuren en een prachtige rozet. Die snijmal heb ik niet dus heb ik zelf een rozet gemaakt. Strip papier gesneden en gevouwen en het randje met de distress tool bewerkt. Een mooie knoop in het midden geplakt.

The ninth tag, only three to go and then 12 tags of christmas is over for another year. Time sure flies when you're having fun! Today Tim made a tag in earth colors and a beautiful rosette. I don't have that die so I made a rosette by hand. I cut a strip of paper and folded it, distressed the edge with the distress tool and glued a button in the middle.
Voor letters had ik niet zoveel plaats dus die heb ik vandaag weg gelaten. Wel heb ik een paar splitpennen en wat bling steentjes erop geplakt. Aan de rechterkant hangt een kettinkje met twee belletjes en een sleuteltje. Detailfoto hieronder:

I did not have enough room for the letters, so I left those out for today. But I did use some fasteners and e few bling-thingies. On the right is a small chain with two bells and a little key. Detail photo beneath:

TToC: day 8

Gisteren was een hele drukke dag. Ik heb het voor elkaar gekregen om de tag te maken maar uploaden lukte niet meer. Vandaag laat ik dus eerst tag 8 zien en later vandaag komt tag 9. (dat is trouwens ook weer een beauty hoor!)
Hier gaat het om maskeren. Ik heb zelf maskers gemaakt van het rendier en de boompjes, wat heel veel klein en precies knipwerk betekende. Maar het is gelukt!

Yesterday I had a very busy day. I managed to create my version of tag 8 but uploading it to blogger took too much time. So today you get tag 8 first and later today tag 9 (which is another beauty!)
Tag 8 is all about masking. I made my own masks with the reindeer stamp and the trees stamp. That meant a lot of fine and precise cutting, but I succeeded!

De swirl komt van de "elegant flourishes" snijmal en grungepaper. Ik heb hem zwart geverfd met paint dabber en ice stickles erover gewreven. Verder heb ik er een stukje rood metaal draad omheen gedraaid. Had ik al gezegd dat ik maskeren geweldig vind?

The swirl was die-cut with the "elegant flourishes" die and grungepaper. I painted it black with paint dabber and rubbed some ice stickles over it. Some red metal wire was twisted around the swirl for dimension. Did I mention that I love masking?!
